Simple as the title sounds, I want to know what the Monday Night Wars were like in your home/residence. Were you a kid watching with your family or a teenager watching with mates? Did you only watch one product or both? If you watched both did you switch between the two or have two TV's set up? For me it was strictly WWF/E as a kid and I watched with my Great Aunt and Uncle so mine's rather boring but my older cousin (9 year gap) said he would get together with his buddies and they'd switch between channels while playing party games. His Monday night ritual was way cooler than mine obviously but I made this thread bc I thought some of you would have some neat stories/setups.
cheers

Both. I didn't like everything each company was doing at the time, so when a feud/angle was on that I wasn't into I would switch over to the other company to see what they were doing.

This.Kept WWF on longer in 99 when WCW was taking a nosedive When WWF had Taker/Mankind and Bret/Austin going on and WCW had the NWO stuff taking off man what a fun time

i watched both
i was 23 yrs old in 1995 and was living in a huge house with my dad, my girlfriend and several of my dads friends and my friends. then we'd have other people over too sometimes
we'd switch channels back n forth when somthin good/cool was on
i recorded both in other bedrooms (to wathc in full later), which was cool too because you could watch or hear/see wrestling thru the whole house
monday nights were a big night in our house

I watched both from about March 1996.
It was the Friday Night Wars in Ireland. TNT had Nitro at 9pm and Sky had Raw at 10pm. I used to watch both of them then on Saturday Morning because I was usually out. great times....especially from mid 96 onwards. I lost the will with WCW in 1999. It was a hard watch and very repetitive I felt?

I grew up in rural conditions without a satellite dish so I would:
- read a ton of magazines - had my cousins in the city record wwf since I didn’t get it on my local channels - watched wcw thunder as it was available on antenna tv - go to my uncle’s or friend’s for big events (ppv, special raws etc) - binge watch if I could when staying at my grandparents who had cable in town. ecw, nitro, raw

They f#cked up Thunder over here. Started out airing it in a block with Nitro which was A1....but then switched it to a weeks delay

I never watched WCW till after the fact. It took the pandemic happening for me to finally sit down & go through all of it, from the Nitro era atleast, show by show, PPV by PPV. I stopped by '99. But I can safely say their 96-mid 98 is some of the best wrestling stuff of all time.

Hoping my own kid gets the wrestling bug when she's older.

My first and only kid so it's a journey in itself but I can only hope to be lucky enough to share the same passions the way your buddy and his daughter do. Just want her to decide on her own and if it sticks, that's dope.

I was more WCW but I would flip when wrestlers I didn’t care for were on. And I would record the other shows and fast forward to watch the matches of the wrestlers I liked in the WWF. And PPV’s my mother had a friend who ordered every PPV and I would supply him with the tapes and he’d record them for me.

I will add that WWF in 96 was rough. Raw was usually a pretty bad/medium show. It wasn't until 97 it got going....

I was a fan of both, and would watch one live while recording the other show to watch immediately afterwards. Which one I watched live depended on who I felt had the stronger set of previously-announced matches for that week.

From memory
---Raw until NWO --Nitro until Wrestlemania before Austin-HBK --Nitro around Goldberg becoming champ -Raw
then stopped watching because I got busy with sports
had no idea WCW sold until a random night i tuned in and saw Vince saying he bought WCW
My head was spinning

Watch the first hour of Nitro and then mainly watch Raw but flick over to Nitro on ad breaks. What was a shame was not getting WCW PPVs unless you watched a German channel on a few days delay
