What I heard from a buddy of an acquaintance’s third cousin (twice removed) that they heard from their barber who also cuts the hair of one of the Village People that they took offense to him calling himself Macho Man, because he wasn’t really a Macho Man so they filed a protest with Mattel, but then King Charles caught wind of the protest and he also filed one saying Randy wasn’t really a King let alone a Macho King like himself so in fear of the backlash Mattel pulled it. Pretty sure this is Hogan politicking. At the moment he has the most UE figures at 4. He woulda been at 5 but the Nitro set wasn’t funded. Macho currently has 3 and the WM7 fig woulda put him in a tie with Hogan. Had the WCW Hogan figure been put into production I don’t think there would be an issue and we’d still get this Macho. But there’s no way Hulk is allowing Savage to have the same amount of UE figs as him. Especially when you take into consideration that Savage as the early bird was the main factor of getting that project funded and Hogan’s early bird couldn’t even get em halfway there. Really hope it's not permanently cancelled... but at the end of the day, we've already had 3 UE Macho's, so it wouldn't be the end of the world. Now, STING not getting any UE figures? End of the world. but its the only macho i actually wanted |

Karma for all those re-releases Mattel constantly are putting out these days. And yes, I count this as a re-release. How? More detail to the hat, jacket, attire, THEY ADDED THE UNDERSHIRT THAT DIDN’T COME WITH THE DM ALMOST 13 YEARS AGO! This wasn’t a “re-release”, they were able to do Justice to an extremely important attire they cut a few corners on during the first year of the line. |

Wait, what??? So this is probably one of those things where a reason would be a good thing to provide so that people don't freak out and start touting all kinds of crazy theories, like an errant truck driving uncle crashing into the Mattel Ultimate Macho parts factory and blowing it up, or the Village People sending a cease and desist order after somehow only becoming aware of Randy Savage within the past month, or some whiner online deciding that the white and purple color scheme is reminiscent of a color worn by a serial killer in 1976, meaning that the deco has to be completely scrapped in exchange for some weird bluish purple and eggshell cream deco scheme will take another 8 months to invent and be completely inaccurate to anything that he ever actually wore.

If so, will it be like his first Ultimate or like the shirt that came with the New Gen Ultimate? He’ll have a soft goods shirt.  |

It's a law issue. They are trying to find a new legal agreement for macho merchandise.
They ask to wwe A LOT of money.

Wonder if anything will come out in the dirt sheets. Issues between the WWE and the Savage estate would be a big enough story to garner interest beyond the action figure if there's truth to the story.

WOW, ZST making a Macho Man tells me that he's willing to get a C&D from the Poffo estate (if they even care or notice), but definitely does not want to fight the copyright giant that is WWE. Cease and desist on the behalf of an estate just means "please don't sell that" but WWE legal can get really involved, I've seen "bootleg" merch designers get really tangled up with WWE legal over unlicensed merchandise.
Tells me that WWE did indeed lose the licensing rights to Macho Man.
But in all honesty this is just odd.
Edit: Also, if ZST was ready to drop that like the next morning, I wonder if this Macho Man news has been quietly making the rounds that the license was coming up and negotiations were tough. Its quite suspect that ZST had this thing ready to post the next day after finding out that the UE Mach' was canceled.
