I'm glad we got the answer to what happened with this figure at comic con.... oh wait. Were you expecting them to address it during the panel? βNext up, more Hulk Hogan figures. But before we take a look at them I want to announce that Macho Man is no longer under a legends deal.β

I mean...this is kind of a massive deal, It would have been nice to have gotten some kind of explanation or at least an acknowledgement of what happened. Like confirming it was cancelled and we will explain when we are allowed. Something. It just seems weird to not even mention it
I don't understand why the toy business acts like its the f-ing mafia sometimes.

Whoβs to say it wasnβt addressed? Have any Q&As with the Mattel team dropped online? Makes no sense to randomly bring it up during their presentation or a booth walkthrough. But if RSC, Pixel Dan, MDT, Kyle Peterson, etc talked to the Mattel team and didnβt ask then thatβs on them.

I would hope they have this legends deal signed up by this time next year. Should not be that complicated.

Iβd imagine if Mattel did on camera Q&As with YouTubers they should be dropping soon.

Look guys, Business 101: I'd presume the Savage Legends Contract is between WWE & Macho Man's Estate..... The business is all about making money..... the deal likely expired, and perhaps they are negotiating on a NEW deal.... Which would mean..... the Macho Man Estate is trying to leverage the value of the license as HIGH as possible.... and WWE is trying to leverage the value of the license as LOW as possible..... a higher cost licensing arrangement will mean higher cost of USING the Macho Man license. The LAST THING WWE/Mattel are going to want right now is a bunch of WrestlingFigs Fans SCREAMING "OH MY GOD WE NEED OUR MACHO MAN ACTION FIGURES, WHAAAAHHHH" ..... So the best thing - during this delicate negotiating time - would be for Mattel/WWE to just keep it quiet until a deal is made (if at all). In other words - we're not helping any WWE/Mattel efforts by continuing to ask, over and over and over..... "When Wil We Gett Mor Macho Man FigureZ? ?" Either they'll get a new licensing deal or they won't, but us crying about it day & night will not help at all. Now that being said..... Can anyone update me on the Ric Flair licensing? "I NEED SOME NEW RIC FLAIR FIGURES IN MY LIFE RIGHT NOW WHAAAAAHHHH"..... I'm serious.

You're not wrong on any of this, though I think it's better for fans to support the things they want vs. just keeping quiet and hoping good news comes our way. If there is some kind of negotiation impasse, fans showing they want Macho figures is about all we can do to try to affect the situation positively. Though I'll grant you there definitely is a line where it's not constructive anymore. Flair is a weird one. Both he and Macho Man are still prominently displayed in the Raw/Smackdown opening, so WWE is clearly not adversed to using their image and likeness to lead into their television programs. Correct me if I'm wrong because pandemic time is all a big blur, but that Flair elite (I wanna say 92) came out after the Dark Side controversy correct? I propose peace in our time by bringing both legends back with a WM8 two-pack. Don't give the people what they want, give them what they need.

If there's no deal or a deal is in the works, they probably won't tell us.

Plus they are still selling Macho Man t-shirts on WWEShop as of today. Even if heβs no longer under a deal, any merch that has already been produced and released can still be sold. They wouldnβt pull anything unless itβs a Hogan scenario.

If there's no deal or a deal is in the works, they probably won't tell us. Flair is also a little more complex because he's been under both straight licensing contracts as well as active talent contracts, which have different stipulations. He's also a living (and erratic) person, so there's also a risk management aspect that you just don't have with Savage. If the rumor of it being an issue of WWE wanting total exclusivity and the licensing company not willing to do that, we're probably going to be at a standoff until someone blinks. CMG is going to be negotiating not just in terms of Macho's contract, but if they give in and sign an exclusive deal, WWE will be trying to leverage that for all CMG clients (Andre, British Bulldog).

Your example is outright dumb but it is 100% fair and legitimate for this question to be answered. There is a glaring hole at this SDCC with zero new Macho Man figures -- a character who has multiple new figures shown every year. Mattel has people working the booth and influencers are there all day. It would take literally a second to get the word out -- even if the word is "we can't talk about that right now." At least thats an answer. Also, they literally have a Q&A -- that means question and answer -- where fans ask questions to people who know things about Mattel-WWE business and design. And if the powers at be have learned anything from catering to toy collectors, its that we obviously pick up on things like the lack of Macho Man at SDCC and the obvious sudden cancellation of one of his best releases yet. Give me a break, dude. Its not an unreasonable answer to want in the slightest. 80% of the burning questions would pipe down if Mattel on any level just said "we can't comment on this right now."

Theyβre not gonna address Macho in the middle of their panel. It was a presentation of upcoming figures. There was a Q&A after the panel and no one bothered asking. Of all the influencers that attended, Iβm sure at least one of them asked while visiting the booth. So maybe letβs wait and see what they post once they return home and are able to edit their videos and not jump to the conclusion that Mattel is trying to ignore the situation.

It's true that they would continue to sell things they already have released unless it's a "cancel," situation. The Raw/SD intro is kinda interesting to me though. I'm starting to feel all speculated-out, but what's one more? If WWE was being petty with the Savage estate, I have to say it would be very like them to casually drop him from the opening. He actually wasn't even in the opening until fairly recently (something that always drove me nuts). WWE will almost always take the stance of "if we're not currently in business with you, we're not promoting your existence." They have so many people they could put in it that they are promoting, I acknowledge the "why wouldn't they do that?" If they continue to leave him in, that would signal to me that if there isn't a current deal, WWE would still like for there to be one in the future.

For sure. That's why this is so weird; Ultimate 18 Orton is already shipping; you'd think Ultimate 18 Savage would be manufactured and shipping now as well. Makes me wonder if there was some horrible manufacturing defect, like they accidentally produced Savage with the Sin Cara melting dong shirt tattooed on his chest or something... Plus they are still selling Macho Man t-shirts on WWEShop as of today. Even if heβs no longer under a deal, any merch that has already been produced and released can still be sold. They wouldnβt pull anything unless itβs a Hogan scenario.
