Was supposed to happen at Mania 32 but then John got hurt. Even if he didn't it probably was best Shane stepped in and people went in expecting a bit less. Cena/Taker at Mania 32 probably would have been slow and awful. I wish they did a better job building Mania 34. But im guessing the company had little faith in Taker being able to go for too long after the Roman debacle the year prior. I think it was the plan but I’m glad we got Taker/Shane.

At WM34 I think it was fine the way it went but it’s shocking we never had a proper “Deadman” Taker vs Cena feud prior. I absolutely forgot that they faced each other in 2004 on SmackDown whilst Taker was the Deadman but WM34 just seemed like an excuse to get both people on the show.
