I've been going back thru and watching these and I'm just such a mark for Bret's 93 run at that PPV. Probably my favorite series of matches in that tournament. My question to you guys, where are you at on KotR? Favorite moments? Matches? (I swear Back to the Codyverse, this is the last time I'm bringing it up)

93 was the best, altho i wanted mr perfect or luger to win it
94 was good, but not as good
95 was decent but they started putting lower level talent in each year it seemed
hated they went to 4-man tournies on the ppvs after that

Bret vs Perfect is my favorite match from any KOTR. Mankind vs. Taker (1996) and Austin vs. Michaels (1997) were also really good. Best moment has to be the Austin 3:16 promo.

I loved that he didn't just go by King Owen Hart, instead going by the King of Hart's Owen Hart - a nice play on words.

Such a shame we never got a PPV rematch between Owen and 1-2-3 Kid that actually got a decent amount of time. Their 1994 KOTR match is about as good as it gets considering how criminally short it is.

I think I remember hearing Jim Ross say that he told Owen that personally, I can't remember what he said Owen's response was.

I know he passed in flying colors in my book Ripping on Jake's age,Godwinns, carrying Yoko in their team etc great stuff

93 will always be my fav KOTR event Bret's run to the crown was fantastic Every match was different. And not a single one was won with the sharpshooter. He also blasted Bam Bam in the face with a mighty righteous protein powder fart on the roll up in the finals.

The 1993 KOTR tournament will always be the best one.
The 1994 KOTR tournament was very solid but ruined by the commentary of Art Donovan.
The 1995 KOTR tournament would have been perfect if Shawn Michaels won the tournament. Everyone thought HBK was gonna win it that year, and the 15 minute draw with Kama just killed the excitement.
The 1996 KOTR tournament was okay, but HBK vs. Bulldog, Ahmed vs. Goldust and Mankind vs. Undertaker made up for the only 4 man tournament. Plus Owen Hart on commentary was great!
After that, the KOTR show just started to lose it's magic for me. It was just treated as just like an ordinary PPV event that followed the last one.

A nice way to add an extra PPV to the original four. A built in format that made it stand out, rather than just being another paid card.
I do think that once Austin really took off that the concept became dated. 93-97, it was a great way to elevate people whilst there was no clear top dog in the WWF. 98 onwards, I personally found it difficult that the winner of the tournament was going to be a threat to Stone Cold (plus the main event scene was so loaded that it would take more than a tournament to elevate someone to that level).

They shouldve just used em for the Lawler/Piper match
Still get a laugh as the show goes on both Mach and Gorilla get real annoyed with em. I know at some points he's completely ignored lol

After 1997, it really didn't feel special anymore. They had so many PPVs, it no longer stood out. There's something to be said about the 5 PPV's the WWF had at the time. Two had a traditional card, while the other three were gimmick PPVs, but each gimmick was different, so they had their own special feel. And by only having 2 traditional card PPVs, they felt bigger/more important. As for KOTR 1995, the winner should have been a monster heel Bam Bam Bigelow. It would have been the best way to rebuild his image after losing to LT at WM11. Also, we would have gotten Diesel vs Bam Bam instead of Diesel vs. Mabel.
