Wait, wasn’t Tonga Kid/ Tama of The Islanders supposed to be an LJN? He would pair nicely with Haku. No, the canceled wave was supposed to be smash, barbarian, the bushwackers, brother love and bad news brown. I'm guessing barbarian which would be awesome but if it's bad news brown that would be even better I know that was the canceled wave, but in the Major Pod YouTube video when they go over the history of the LJN line, they discuss how Tonga Kid was originally slated for this line, but never released (before the famous lost wave). I’m guessing he’s the mystery figure.

It was a while ago when I saw the video, it’s possible I misremembered the name. Perhaps we’ll find out soon. But in either case, I’d personally prefer one of the cancelled wave figs.

Other than the final 6 planned in 1989, Haiti Kid was shown on a promotional list of upcoming figures in 1985, maybe 1986?, that LJN mailed out to some customers. But what about Sgt. Slaughter? Isn't he already signed to the bendems line? He was originally supposed to be part of series 1 with Hogan, Sheik, Andre, Studd, and Snuka. I'd like to see him with removable hat, and wishful thinking, how about also with removable sun glasses and baton? That is unless the earlier spoiler was for real.

Oh, and there's Killer Khan too. I suppose theres a possibility he could be the mystery fig too since there was that prototype wax figure sculpted but never produced.

A Slaughter would be interesting. I feel like the LJN style one still holds up, so curious to see how one from Major Pod differs.

I started really becoming a big fan of wrestling (WWF) around Wrestlemania 3, but also going back and watching older videos from my local video store. I recognize that Missing Link and Haiti Kid were originally slated for the LJN line, but neither of them are key to my wrestling memories. Missing Link I really only recall from magazines, not sure I ever saw him wrestle. And Haiti Kid I vaguely remember in Mr. T’s corner in Mania 2, and from the 6 man tag at Mania 3, but even that match I mostly remember Hillbilly Jim and Bundy- especially Bundy getting so vicious with the little people, that they all banded together at the end. Even Sgt. Slaughter I remember most from when he came back as a heel in the early 90’s, and thereafter (he was only in WWF as a face pre-Hulkamania, right?). So rant aside about the almost LJNs, I’m really most looking forward to the missing characters who were more involved in the big pay per views of the 80’s, Saturday Night’s Main Events, etc. Demolition- definitely! Jannetty- yes, please! Andre- a want I hadn’t known I’d needed! Others I’d love: Barbarian, Bad News Brown, Bushwhackers, Dino Bravo, Akeem, Butch Reed, Hercules (LJN redo with more common look from the 80s), Warlord (LJN redo more accurate to POP attire), Duggan (LJN redo with blue trunks, better face, thicker, etc), The Genius, and I’m sure others I can’t think of now. I’d still also love if they could get Honky Tonk Man (tights), DiBiase (trunks), and Mr Perfect- though I know these aren’t likely for the foreseeable future. I want to be All-In for the 80’s WWF era figs. But if Haiti Kid and/or Missing Link are produced, I’m honestly not sure.

Oops, there I go again thinking it was Missing Link, now seeing in the thread it was Killer Khan that almost came in the LJNs. Still, only vague memories of him in an undercard feud with Outback Jack. Toyetic, sure! But nostalgic? Not really, for me.
As for Haiti Kid/ Tonga Kid, I’m thinking I mistook which “Kid” it was in hopes for a Tama figure to pair with Haku. That one, I’d go for!

I'm pretty much on par with you but I'd definitely love a Haiti kid and killer khan because i think it would be cool to have seeing as they were almost ljns

I remember saving all my flag points to get Slaughter. It was a cross-promotional item as the hasbro ad used the LJN guys with Sgt. Slaughter standing over them. Slaughter was harder than the LJN guys.

Adding to Chicago’s post, someone on their show claimed they let a friend get hands-on with a sample and it was the closest thing in terms of feel and smell of the original LJN. I believe that includes Jazwares, Jakks, those Bucks, and OSFTM. Yeah I feel these will be closest to the LJN's. I want them but my wallet is telling me no. Similar to my full set of Hasbro, once I let one 'custom' in, where does it stop. What we really need is for Mattel to recreate them! The Colliseum line would have been perfect in ljn form. You do not have to explain yourself to me…but I don’t see the rationale of this unless you are wanting this to be a WWE licensed product. Honestly if Mattel made it, I think they would be giving it as much love as the Retros get which is a nice way of saying “expect the bare minimum and a fair amount of disappointment.”

Seemed inevitable. Great addition to the line and could be an extremely hot seller given his mass/crossover appeal.

Jannetty is a Day 1 order for me. Slaughter and Flair are HUGE names, but with limited space and budget, I’m sticking to 1985-89 WWF, LJN era. Still though, great roster developing! I can’t wait for Andre and to see who else will be in his wave.

I didn't realize Slaughter was such a big demand for LJN fans. I hope it sells well
