[LJN Style] Big Rubber Guys

I feel like the size of the Hasbro is too big for the LJN line. He's like the same height as Andre and the Grand Toys 1989 ones. The harder rubber doesn't really fit well either though the style is certainly "LJN-like."
I feel like the prototype really fits the LJN style better. I'm used to Slaughter being fatter so I feel like the proto is out of place but then I remember he was smaller back then so it really does fit the time period.

I don't collect anything anymore but if I were, I'd def. be getting these. They all fit so well with the LJNs and to have Matt personally answering questions is very important to the communication.

The Hasbro was in my childhood fig-fed, so will always have a fondness to me. But it is too jacked and super-hero like compared to the LJNs. Slaughter in the early-mid 80s probably had a build between Volkoff and Hillbilly Jim. This new fig/ original mold seems to fit right in with those early LJNs.

He was the #3 baby face in the company during 1984, behind only Hogan and Andre. He had a huge feud with the Iron Sheik that year. I believe he was gone by the end of the year because he signed with Hasbro and GI Joe. Had he still been around, I believe he would have been on the WM1 PPV. 

I guess it depends on when the figures actually came out. If they came out after Slaughter left in 1984, then I could see Vince not wanting to release the figure of Slaughter. Not just that, but if Slaughter was signed to Hasbro with GI Joe, then LJN probably couldn't release the figure. 

Here is what is said about it on wikipedia:
An 8" Sgt. Slaughter figure was made by LJN. Slaughter had a contract dispute with the WWF over merchandising and left the company. The figure was never released to stores and was instead purchased by Hasbro. Hasbro then made the 8" Sarge figure available as a mail order tie-in with their G.I. Joe action figure line.

He must have left the WWF sometime in 1985 because there's a story featured on the cover of the Feb/March 1985 WWF magazine titled Sgt. Slaughter's Cobra Corps Camp. I don't think he returned to the WWF again until 1990ish, not sure of that though.

I just listened to a Major Pod from last June, where they expressed admiration for “Superstar” Billy Graham and wished he’d had an LJN. Selfishly, I hope they don’t go into pre-Wrestlemania figures. Those would be before my time, so no personal nostalgia connection. Slaughter is the exception, due to his having been slated for an LJN.

Superstar in his 1986, 1987 return outfit with his bald head, goatee look would be cool. I know one customizer or more did this and looks great.

I wish someone could do an LJN checklist but with the actual timeline of when they originally made it to stores. I know the 1988 catalog has expected months when they would be released. I just wonder if series had different waves or if all released at once. Like 1986 and 1987 had so many different characters, they couldn't ALL come out at the same time?

I agree he wouldn't fit with the LJN era, but I'd still buy one if they did one of him from his 1977-78 championship run. If they could do one in his signature pose, him with one arm up flexing his bicep. If not that, maybe the double bicep pose like the LJN Paul Orndorff figure. I could also see them doing one of him from his 1986/87 return when he was older. He did wrestle for a bit before moving into a managerial role at that time. 

His last match was in December of 1984. He returned to the AWA in January of 1985.
