[LJN Style] Big Rubber Guys

Home from work and here are my initial thoughts. Apologies for a lack of pictures.

I grabbed some LJNs and a WCW Vader to compare. Ax & Smash are very close in size to LJNs. They’re a hair bigger than Iron Sheik but look better next to Macho Man. They tower over Vader which isn’t a surprise. When it comes to the feel, they’re a bit stiffer than LJNs but no where near as solid as the OSFTM Vader. LJN Sheik and Macho don’t require much pressure to bend the arms where Demolition feel quite a bit more rigid. This isn’t something that’s going to affect my option on them but I know a lot has been said about how close they feel to LJNs and to me, they’re not quite there. That might be due to them being a bit bulkier than who I grabbed.


Paint is mostly good. The face paint looks great on both. There’s some minor spots where the gauntlets wrap into the fist that are missing some black paint, but again, not the biggest issue. Smash’s mustache could have been a bit higher on his lip and separated to look more like a mustache, but that’s an extremely minor nit pick. Where there is an issue though is my Ax has a bit of a wonky right eye. It’s just slightly misaligned which is a little bit of a bummer, but on the shelf he’ll probably look fine, even without the mask. Smash stands just fine. Both feet stand completely flat. Ax however has a little bit of a lean to him and he already can fall backwards with just the lightest touch. I don’t think they’ve ever brought up the idea of stands, but Ax could use one. Otherwise Demolition are going to the back of the shelf so they don’t topple over.

Overall I’m happy to add these guys to the shelf, I just wish Ax came out as good as Smash did, but they still look great. It’s wild that Jakks & Jazwares never got this close to the look, size and vibe of the LJNs and the Major Pod guys practically nailed it. I’m looking forward to Slaughter, Savage & Andre.

Is there any plans to release or add to the figure package to help these big rubber guys stand up for displays?
