Has any mention been made of the stance on repaints to get the most out of those expensive-ass molds? I am so bummed I missed Marty and would love a second chance in a different colorway. Im all for repaints. Marty in the blue/rainbow tiger stripes would be amazing and id buy 2 like the first one to convert into shawn. It does suck Marty has some scale issues, being one of the bigger and taller of the rest in the line.

I mean we're already seeing repaints with Flair, Savage and Bulldogs (Slaughter might be too? I wasnt clear on that one), so I think it’s possible. I wonder if they'd really want to do a repaint of Jannety though, given the scale issues of that mold... Slaughter is being repainted as an NYCC exclusive this Fall.

God that moment was amazing, wasn’t it!? One of those things where I can look back 30 years later and still appreciate how awesome it was. It added so much to the perception that “anything could happen in the World Wrestling Federation.” That is something that is kind of less common today in mainstream wrestling. But for this one particular angle with Marty, the stars really aligned and we got a very memorable moment out of it! Had the follow up worked out better, I feel like this moment would be discussed more often.

The magic of a lower card guy suddenly winning a title is basically gone in modern wrestling. Which, if you think about it, is kind of crazy. With WWE especially, they no longer need to rely on titles being attached to big, money drawing stars. PPVs are basically a dead concept, and WWE will get viewers and ratings no matter who is carrying any of their titles. I couldn't even tell you who is holding most of the titles in that company at this time as it is.

I’ve only very casually paid attention in recent years, but wouldn’t Kofi’s championship win count as one of these “Cinderella story” out of nowhere championship victories? Just too bad his reign ended the way it did.

Just too bad his reign ended the way it did. I wouldn’t really put it in the same category…not without an asterisk at least. Kofi became undeniable. The company capitalized on it at the time but it really wasn’t out of nowhere. He had pretty significant build. You could argue that Jinder fits into this category way more than anyone else in the modern era…but that isn’t really a good thing given how forced it was and that he wasn’t a babyface. To be fair, Money in the Bank has created moments for some of the lower or mid card guys to achieve a substantial push towards the top. Damien Priest is a good example of that. Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler are also some earlier examples. Sadly, things didn’t work out for either. What made Marty’s moment in time so special is that it came out of nowhere. He had been gone for a minute and he literally showed up out of nowhere without warning. It was at a time when news/rumors wasn’t immediate so it really took viewers by surprise!

Nakamura's first IWGP title win 20 something years ago was very much like that. The focus was more on Hiroyoshi Tenzan working his way up and finally winning the title. And his match with Nakamura- who i believe was only a few years in his pro career, if that-was just a cursory first title defense. So it was a huge shock that Nakamura beat him and won the title. I guess Ronnie Garvin winning the NWA title in the 80s was similar too but, that was more like a wtf win lol.

Kofi winning was huge, but there was build-up and momentum, much like Daniel Bryan or CM Punk before. The Jannetty win was more shocking for sure, especially given that title changes weren’t very frequent back then. And you’re right, that doesn’t happen a lot these days.

I don’t know if you have to pay for placement on collector shop websites, but I just noticed a prominent page 1 placement for Big Rubber Guys (and other Major Bendies) for a Store that is Big and Bad and sells Toys! Nicely done!

Figures look good in package. Not sure if it was a mandatory part of the agreement but it was a smart move to plug the NWA every time the belt is mentioned and on the packaging itself. I’m not in love with the darkness of Harley’s hair on the packaging but maybe it’s just the stylization of the mock up making it appear that way. Harley changed up his facial hair all the time so he did wear his mustache like that but it doesn’t quite feel like his more iconic looks (like the one used for the figure itself). Also, the belt looks like it would be a tad too small (10%?). Very cool series outside of those nitpicks. Talk about covering so many eras at once. http://instagram.com/p/C-nzNsGPGyQ

That Brawler is looking SO good to me! Like Jannetty, a sleeper hit who I wasn’t asking for, but am happy to add to my collection!

I do wish Harley had the mustache connected to the sideburns for the more iconic look, but still a good looking figure.

Kanik shared that new warehouse employees have been trained. One of which is apparently a collector so that’s certainly a hopeful sign for the future. I’ve only ever received the one purchase and the condition wasn’t the best but not quite enough for me lodge a complaint over either. I have pre ordered since then but I am not sure who will be shipping it (it was a wrestling collector exclusive).
