Nothing provocative here, but I've had the original UE Warrior MOC for years now and am 100% in favor of a re-release.
I don't resell, but I also don't open figs that have significant value because of the potential sale if I decided to.
It confuses me, too, but not enough to make me worry about it.

I love how people whine & cry about things getting re-released. They literally think little plastic men are an investment. If you want investments dont waste your time with toys.. Step into grown up stuff like stocks, bonds, CDs... Collect for a hobby. Collecting as a hobby - it’s quite common to want to collect items that are more rare and hard to find no? If other collectibles offered straight up re-releases, I think that hobby would suffer.. it’s not so much people initially buying the figures as an investment, but it’s that having older more sought after figures makes it fun to be a collector.

The figures arent rare though. They're just old. They're holding a piece of plastic that at least 5000+ other people do and they *hope* they can flip it for peanuts when they get laid off at their Burger Shack job. If you want to collect something thats actually rare or hard to find then get into sports cards. 1 of 1s, printing plates, relic, cut autos etc...Then you can truly be in a hobby that has rare items as well as an investment.

We don't need rereleases, u snooze u lose WRONG
It's not about us. It's Mattel. They are a business. They know how to capitalize on a strong business opportunity and they are doing so. Just so happens that thousands of collectors are getting a chance at some of these originally hard to find Ultimates.
Sounds like someone else is losing here, hmmm....

Supply and demand dictate the “rarity” not just the original production #.. this is all your opinion which is fine, but my explanation still stands as far as why straight up re-releases in a collectible isn’t cool regardless of the hobby.

These ultimates were never rare. Never.
Most of them got clearanced out.
Just because there’s not many for sale on eBay and people create some big value on it because a few people paid the price, or by tagging it as a “big boy purchase”
It’s so stupid. These are mass produced toys. Even the “rarer” ones were produced in the thousands.

Buyers set the price. Plain and simple. Nobody is buying at $100+, sellers aren’t listing at $100+… but people believe they HAVE to have items first, or just in general. Like some sort of badge of honor.

Give me a break that warrior was 25 dollars on RSC sale 🤣 that thing is not rare. It was hypothetical made to look rare.
