Another great match. Wrestlemania 39 is still my show of the year but this is a close second.

Main event let me down. I expected a classic and it was really only just a good match.
Fun show, glad I got it. I’ll have to catch the opener tomorrow. My eyes are barely open

Had it not been for the match of the year earlier, the main event would've felt great. But it had NO chance to live up to that. Omega is the best on the planet and damn if Ospreay ain't nipping at his heels. Speaking of which, Will showed he has what it takes to play bad guy in the States if he ever chooses to.

I haven't read the thread and honestly don't plan to. Having been there live, that will likely forever live as my favorite show of all time. What a crazy experience. My section was very pro punk and post match he looked right up at us from the turnbuckle and locked eyes and gave us a little thank you. Then proceeded to sing my heart out to Kansas for the elite.
When the final countdown hit, I jumped up and down screaming "let's effin goooooo". Absolutely surreal.

I streamed this. I have no idea who these guys from Japan are. Absolutely nothing about them is special to me because of that. I've seen Will Ospreay highlights, a match against Kenny Omega, the few times he's been on AEW and other than that I have no idea who he is. As basically an outsider this is what this thing looked like to me.
MJF vs Hiroshi Tanahashi - I watched Tanahashi fall off the top turnbuckle at Collision and he didn't look like he belonged up there tonight either. The announcers were almost talking like they were expecting him to fall as they started laying out reasons why he was going to. MJF suggesting he was walking like Hank Hill's dad was comical. I love the timing of when MJF uses his "eye poke." I like that he mixes it up. I thought the ref was having a nap when he was getting the belt out of the ring and Tanahashi was pinning MJF. Something went wrong there. I was expecting MJF would win with the "Ring Shot." I think they're over-doing that finish. Good match.
CM Punk vs Satoshi Kojima - The most disappointing thing about this BY FAR was the fan who wouldn't throw Punk's shirt back. Punk didn't throw it into the crowd at Collision, but he did tonight. I think he wanted to start the "throw the shirt to the fans and the fans throw it back routine" but the fuggen fan kept the damn shirt. I don't know. I think being known as the first person to throw it back in his face would be a better experience/memory than keeping the shirt. A really fun moment was lost there. Kojima's top rope elbow to Punk's NACHOS was a sight to behold. Punk is dropping his leg and almost standing when his top rope elbow makes contact. It doesn't look good. I didn't like CM Punk in WWE. I thought he was good for AEW's growth when he came in. I just flat out like him now. Seeing his reaction as they travel is going to be awesome. Good match.
Orange Cassidy vs Katsuyori Shibata vs Zack Sabre Jr. vs Daniel Garcia - Daniel Garcia's "Alex Wright dance" is over. Make him a good guy and start giving him matches over low card guys where he can win and dance and pop the crowd. He's not going to be The Rock but he just fell into a successful blue print. Go for it. Taz talking about the strength of Garcia's pelvic thrusts being strong enough to rip his pants on Dynamite was so fugging funny. I like how they kept doing the same moves on each other over and over early on. It looked good. It's weird when everyone disappears so 2 guys can have the ring and do a series of moves, and then one or both of them disappear so 1 or 2 other guys can come in and do the same. Someone used a belt as a weapon at one point and the commentators say it's no DQ because it's a four way match.......? Then why not just come to the ring swinging a flaming barbed wire baseball bat? Just because it's a four way match doesn't mean they have to suddenly allow weapons. If they allow weapons why are you using wrist locks? Cassidy also went back and forth between selling his hand and not selling his hand about (it seemed like) 9 times. Does it hurt or not? Make up your mind. The overall action was entertaining. Cassidy won the match without actually winning the match. We'll see if that's evidence that his grasp on the Back Pack Championship is weakening..........
Jack Perry vs Sanada - No. They raised the bar to high with guys kicking out of Canadian Destroyers off ladders through tables for a guy to be winning with a moonsault. No. If the guy is Vader's size. Yes. But this? No. That was a terrible finish. Jungle MAN turning on Hook was a nice play. They made a point to show Perry stop while leaving and then exit out the "heel side." I hadn't even paid attention to them still doing that. Now it gets interesting though because who is Tony going to have win when they start wrestling? Sometimes I wonder if he's thought that far ahead. I wonder if we'll see Jack cross paths with Christian and Luchasaurus again? The ending really deflated this match.
Adam Page + The Young Bucks + Eddie Kingston + Tomohiro Ishii vs Moxley + Claudio + Wheeler Yuta + Takeshlta + Shota Umino - There was a lot going on here, and I pretty much liked it all. Takeshlta and Ishii were beating the hell out of each other. That ONE forearm looked and sounded deadly. The long ass chop spot with Moxley and Kingston that went on before, during, and after everyone brawled was cool. I liked Eddie Kingston taking the Superkicks for Moxley. I hate Adam Page's no look moonsault. HATE IT. Just take a fuggen peek and try to make it make sense as to why you're so confident in hurling yourself 10 feet to the ground while in the air and upside down. Humor me and pretend for a second that you're worried your opponents aren't in the same position they were 9 seconds ago when you stopped looking at them and started climbing the ropes. One little peek. This was a good match. I thought Takeshlta should have been the one scoring a pin on someone though. I'm guessing there is some kind of agreement on how many matches companies are winning?
Willow Nightingale vs Toni Storm - I spent more time eating the Wendy's I ordered than I did paying attention to this match.
Kenny Omega vs Will Ospreay - I don't want to say it started out slow because they intentionally started slower, but it felt slow. As soon as business picked up though holy shett it was on. That (release) Tiger Driver looked INSANE on tv. The camera angle made it look like Omega's neck folded like a lawn chair. Kenny did a horrible blade job whereas Ospreay was leaking all over the place for a while. I liked when Ospreay licked Omega's blood off his arm, the crowd chanted, "you're a sick fug" and he looked at the camera with a dead serious look and said, "yes." That was awesome. The DDT on the steps was AWESOME. I thought Omega was going to legit full out HULK UP when he kicked out of the One Winged Angel. I actually think he should have. Toronto crowd would have LOVED that. I realize these guys are on a different level, but compare the finish of this match to Jack Perry's? A moonsault?? Awesome match here. My only complaint is why the ref let Don Callis come back after throwing him out? I swear I heard them say it was Japanese rules so it was up to the referee's discretion? I was confused by whatever was supposed to be going on there.
Sting + Darby Allin + Tetsuya Naito vs Chris Jericho + Sammy Guevara + Minoru Suzuki - I don't know what was going on with Jericho yelling at Naito to hurry up when he got in the ring but I was laughing my ass off because I was watching Jericho yelling at him while thinking the same thing myself. I didn't get as much Sting - Jericho as I wanted. The part where Jericho was yelling at Suzuki to let him in to face Sting and Suzuki kept saying no was hilarious. I THOUGHT Jericho was going to get in the ring, circle Sting once, and then tag Sammy in to start the dissension and make him fight sting. After the last match these guys were in a tough spot. I think that's why we saw the only table of the night here. As soon as I saw the table I was thinking Sting was coming off the top and putting Sammy through it. I liked that Jericho made Sammy do it though. Darby Allin's suicide dives are pure savage. Sammy's "Cody Cutter" on Sting looked BRUTAL. Sting had no idea how to take it or his legs got stuck and instead of taking a cutter like a normal person would he just kind of bent in half in a way the human body doesn't normally bend. I don't even remember how this match ended but it was as flat as Jungle Boy's.
Bryan Danielson vs Kazuchika Okada - I liked the tap out at the end. Danielson had him tied up like a double knotted shoelace. It seemed like an out of nowhere finish though. It wasn't a bad match or anything, it was just suddenly over. Four hours in it seemed like the crowd was pretty gassed.
Good PPV. I'm glad I watched it but I'm also glad I didn't go because none of these match ups are interesting me. Every match was basically someone/some people I know vs someone/some people I don't know. Zero intrigue for this card live, but it was definitely worth the watch on tv. My biggest complaint is the endless amounts of you hit me, I hit you, You hit me, I hit you........ In a bloody personal feud like Kingston Moxley I can see 2 guys throwing punches until their arms fall off. When everyone is doing it it gets to be a bit much. Although at some point someone mentioned this being the 80th time 2 guys have wrestled so there might be some blood history I don't know about.

Omega/Ospreay is easily in my top 3 all time,if not for Don being allowed back out there, it might be number 1. Just incredible stuff, best two in the world and imo its not close. Gotta see this again in Wembley and see if they can possibly top it.
So looking forward to see what Jungle Man can do,hopefully TK throw Anna with him and let him take the FTW title from Hook and destroy it.
Okada/Bryan was good but nothing as i was expecting but sounds like Bryan got hurt,so im guessing they mightve made some changes. Hopefully he's not out for long so we can get this BCC/Elite feud over and Kenny and Hangman can move on.
MJF/Tana was really disappointing, haven't seen Tanahashi in a while and man has he gotten old. It wasn't a bad match but with the two involved it just failed flat for me.
Had a blast watching, just like I said about Tanahashi I haven't seen most of these guys in ring in years besides the first FD and it was so much fun remembering back when I was big into NJPW. Will and Kenny showed how far they're ahead of third best in the business and did nothing but make me more excited for their next matchup.

So Danielson was out after the MJF match with a compressed vertebrae and a torn labrum. He did the anarchy in the arena cause you could mask it. Back tonight officially and breaks his arm. Bad break for the guy. 6-8 weeks. Hopefully he will be back for All In. But they were gonna do B&G in Boston. You assume at this point it was gonna be Elite vs BCC.

Felt like most matches failed to live up to the hype honestly. Especially the main event, but understandable if Bryan broke his arm.

Now that it’s all sunken in a bit, I feel like I would’ve enjoyed more of the matches if I followed NJPW but aside from a few Okada matches, and some of the AJ Bullet Club stuff, I’m very limited on what I’ve seen. I’ll say I’m not a big fan of guys in every match just standing there beating the fudge out of eachother but to each their own.
The Omega - Ospreay match ruled and I’ll have to watch Okada - Bryan again to properly judge it but nothing else on that show sniffed the Omega match to me.
Moment of the night to me was Omega hulking up after Ospreay hit him with the one winged angel. That was awesome
Overall, really fun show.

I’ve been saying for years that in my mind Shawn Michaels is the greatest all around pro wrestler of all time, with Bryan in a close second. I think Danielson has officially surpassed Shawn. Just the greatest wrestler ever in my opinion.

I love Bret, much more than Shawn, but I’m including mic work into the equation and I’ve never found Bret’s mic work to be stellar unfortunately.

Had to go back and watch the rest of the main event this morning as I had to get to bed for work and Omega/Ospreay already did everything for me that the show could. Good main event though and a solid match. I woulda rather seen Okada win but that's just me. Sad to see Bryan getting another injury but like I said earlier, his heart, mind and soul might be on that level still but his body is not. He should work a more limited schedule or style moving forward imo.
Highlights for me were - DDT on the steps - release tiger bomb/driver whatever it was that turned Omega's neck into dust - shooting star from the top rope while Omega was hung on the rope followed by the top rope cutter to the ring apron - OC retaining - Punk winning his match - Takeshiita sleeping Ishi with the nastiest forearm in wrestling. Idk if dude is a great seller or it was a botch but he legitimately looked like he went to bed.
Loved it. Really fun show overall. As someone else said I was really hoping for that fan to throw Punk's shirt back at him. Coulda started something great.

I imagine big NJPW fans and those watching in Japan had a much different reaction to that main event than us. I thought the match was really good but didn't really break through to that next level, the way that the Kenny/Ospreay match did.
But WOW, Okada tapped. Thats the first time since like G1 2015 when he submitted to Nakamura. THAT is a big damn deal for puro fans that just didn't translate to a "MEGA MOMENT" to the live crowd or to American audiences at home.
But considering Danielson fractured his arm like 1/3 into it, a pretty damn good showing.
I thought the PPV was fantastic. I think the issue that AEW runs into quite often is the length of the PPVs. This show was just too long and emotionally exhausting. I get you want to reward everyone for their hard work by getting them onto the PPV but the length of PPVs was a very contentious point for WWE fans just a few years ago. I think this event goes to show you: it doesn't matter how good the wrestling is, fans have limits. For goodness sakes we got DANIELSON VERSUS OKADA and the crowd was just drained for it.
The Sting/Jericho six man tag died a slow and painful death in that spot. The match had sloppy and slow moments just due to the fact of whose in the match, but if that had gone on earlier with some time shaved off, it would've elevated the show as a whole. It sort of took the wind out of the sails for the live crowd, and they were real quiet for the main event. '
But I thought MJF Vs Tanahashi was actually really well done. I loved the Punk match. I liked the fourway a lot. I actually really enjoyed the Sanada match even though I get that it was an odd one for sure. The 10 man tag was good. The women's title match was actually decent and just didn't get a chance because its smothered by an outstanding card. Ospreay Vs Omega goes without saying, one of my favorite matches in years. That Sting six man tag was just a bit too long and a bit too late. The main event was solid but I'd say a little below expectations, but the finish was a big moment and I have a feeling we will be getting a rematch.
I saw someone compare Forbidden Door 2022 Vs 2023 to One Night Stand 2005 Vs 2006, and I thought that was genius.
They are both very different and each one has its arguments for being the better event. The first one has that "first time ever" hype and prestige, but I honestly felt like this year's event was so well built on TV, and that lead to a show full of real stakes and stories. It would be hard to pick my favorite and I say, why choose? Love em both!

Catching the MJF match. MJF is in a league of his own in AEW as far as character work and how he presents himself. Dude is a genius.
Also, Tanahashi moves around like Matt Hardy.

One of the guys sitting next to me and myself were both remarking during this match how good mjf was at hiding a lot of tanahashis limitations. They were still there when tana had to run or do semi high spots, but overall mjf was unreal at limiting it.
