Just recently received a shipment of the Legends series Rockers and Ax of Demolition. As soon as I opened up the box it had this weird strong smell. It wasn’t smoke related. Best way to describe it is like a smell from an old auto shop. It’s definitely related to the rubber kneepads (Rockers) and Ax’s vest. Did the fig bath and after airing them out for a bit, I sealed them in their own plastic bag. After a couple of days in the container box, the whole container smelled of that same rubber smell.
Been seeing some older posts on how to remove odors from figures that smell of smoke, but not sure if it’ll do the same trick. Also wondering if anyone has received figures that had a similar smell related to the rubber accessories. Right now I have them wrapped in bags with fabric softener sheets. Might try sealing them in a bag with baking soda next, if the sheets don’t work.
Any other tips?

I have all my figures in cases and when I open the door you get hit with a strong rubber/plastic smell, I dont think you can fix it

Is this different from that "new figure smell"? Because I hope that never goes away.... I get a rush every time I open a new figure.

I will literally huff my figures for "new figure smell". It makes the happy chemical in my brain. Which may or may not be microplastic induced cancer.

Like I said, smells like an old auto shop or something. I’ve gotten pre-owned loose figures before and none have smelled like these. |

I can still remember the LJN smell when I was a kid. It was the smell of winning the figure hunt.
