Thank you for the interaction @punkamania. I concede to that point. Can you guys give us a good reason why he should get a figure. What makes him so influential in this century that would justify the risk for Mattel?

I think the oxygen might be a little thin up there on that pedestal...careful you don't pass out and fall. This is cute...Thanks for the interaction. Really, it means a lot guys. I do find it funny those "dog-piling" on me now are glossing over my second point. So I'll ask it flat out. Would you guys buy an Ahmed Johnson figure? I believe he would be a great addition to everyone's collection and is someone that is a lot less controversial. Yes, if they made an Ahmed Johnson figure, most people who collect that time period would buy one. I don't see the correlation here, just because Ahmed Johnson doesn't have a figure what does that have to do with Cornette getting/not getting a figure? Also, just because Cornette said something you disagree with, and failed to understand, doesn't mean he's "controversial". I don't agree with everything that Jim Cornette says, but he's one of the top managers in wrestling history, and is a well-known personality to wrestling fans today, he "deserves" a figure just as much as anyone else who has received a figure from Mattel. If WWE signs him to a deal, Mattel will make a figure of him.

South Park did a great job of explaining "Starvin Marvin" to my generation. And Ahmed was blacklisted by Vince because he called Vinnie MacNasty what he is. It is a fair trade off, I believe (Learn more wrestling controversy history.) I appreciate your take, I do, but I believe that Cornette now falls under the same banner as: Marty Scurll, Velveteen Dream, Hogan, Flair, Warrior, and a certain Rapid X-men. It won't happen. But thank you for your interaction.

I've said my peace and I am proud of my stance. There is a reason no company will touch this man in 2023 and It feels good to be standing on the right side of history. Again...he can have a Mattel figure when I get my Mattel Ahmed Johnson. bro AEW asked Cornette to work for them and he said no lol what you even on about 🤦♂️

So wait, which is it, is he playing a character or speaking truths? Because people defend him in both directions, and maybe the truth is he's just a grifter who got bounced from his industry and found a hanger-on revenue stream.

But thank you for your interaction. So, because Jim Cornette made a starvation joke to emphasis his opinion of Murdoch's toughness, he can't have an action figure??? That doesn't make a lot of sense. And to you, because Ahmed Johnson has not gotten a figure, which may or may not have anything to do with what he called Vince McMahon, Cornette shouldn't get a figure??? That also doesn't make any sense. A lot of wrestlers have called Vince a number of unflattering things, yet they've still received figures. And I think you may have misunderstood South Parks episode, it wasn't about race or racism or anything of the like, it was more a comment about American consumerism/over consumption and decadence as well as America's lack of understanding about the plight of other nations. They focused on those old commercials about helping starving kids in other countries, but the commercials always used an overweight individual as the spokesperson - which is what the South Park people were commenting on because it seemed tone-deaf. Also, if you say he now falls under the same banner of Hogan, Flair and Warrior, then you are saying that he should get a figure since they still get figures. Well, I'm not sure about Flair, but I thought I heard he resigned, so if he did then he'll probably get more figures.

I hope Cornette doesn't get one just because I enjoy when his toxic mutant fanbase doesn't get nice things. There are a lot of people in his fanbase that aren’t “toxic mutant” I’d probably venture to guess that the vast majority of his fans (like almost every other fanbase out there in anything not political) are okay. It’s the bungholes that are the problem, that could be said for any fanbase.

OK, I don't get the controversy here.
Would I get a Jm Cornette figure - yes, he played a major role in wrestling history, in the boom period of the 80s in the NWA. Regardless of the Starvin Marvin joke, and if you determine it is racial or not, anyone that has knowledge of the wrestling history cannot dispute Cornette's place in it. I would get a 'young thin' Jim Cornette from the 80s, and an 'older and heftier' figure of Cornette from the 90s. I figure 2 figures of Cornette is enough.
I would also get a figure of Ahmed Johnson too if they were to put one out. I did not watch the WWE during this timeframe, but would certainly get one to fill out my collection. Maybe two if he has different enough looks (I will be honest, I don't know).
I think both wrestling personalities deserve figures. In my opinion the argument against Cornette getting a figure due to the Starvin Marvin joke is probably moot. It is old news. Look at what Hogan said back in 2012, which led to him being removed from the WWE - for a time. Now, look how many Hogan figures are out, and are coming soon. I think the only two at the moment that are 100% never going to get a WWE figure are Benoit and Owen. I think it is very unlikely we get another Snuka, a Moolah, and likely a few others, but (in my opinion) Cornette doesn't fall into that category.
If Cornette doesn't want to go on the road any longer, it seems perfect to get him a Legends contract, and include a Hall of Fame induction with that. I don't think any of the controversy In the past would stop that now.

Hes the only one I genuinely enjoy listening to and will be bummed when I can’t anymore. Conrad sucks. Konnan and Disco suck. Road Dogg contradicts himself constantly. There isn’t anyone with his tenure that’s as sharp, knowledgeable and entertaining. You can tell Mick and RVD took too many bumps from their podcasts. JR is just grumpy.

I don't find Cornette very broadly knowledgeable or sharp. He knows everything about a specific style of wrestling that existed in a specific place and time that's not there anymore. That was awesome when I was first getting into watching Mid-South, but once you've heard him make for the 5,000th time the same joke about a guy's balls in a drinking straw looking like corn kernels in a storm drain, he starts getting pretty tired. Honestly, the only older guy I still enjoy listening to is Dutch, but I don't really care that much about older wrestling anymore and I don't think the old guys really have many useful takes about the newer stuff. Most of what I'm listening to is hyper-specific joshi stuff now, because there I don't have to hear about, like, CM Punk.

I can’t explain it, but Cornette is just all around a better show/broadcast than any other wrestling podcast. His numbers show I’m not alone by far. Both shows blow the rest out of the water. Even his ad reads are insane and enjoyable.

LOL at anyone acting like Cornette wouldn't take a job if WWE or AEW came calling.
