I dunno about everyone else but im over the monkey arms and the lame sales fomo techniques. The hype train for zombies has slowed to a crawl due to how this has played out. I guess thats what he gets for being a small fish in the big pond of his factory. Im surprised those nick gages arent 5 bucks by now

I feel like the retro buzz has died down across the board. probably from getting F'd over by companies left, right and centre?
ZST's whole schtick was he was targeting the collector's market, and pitched his "premium products" at the sort of collectors who A) wanted to complete their collections, and B) wanted to get the names/figures that Hasbro didn't produce, so you'd be able to complete your retro series, but have a collectable series of figures that were rare/limited because they were produced on a much smaller scale
so.... he's had "exclusive" figures that he's re-released, he's had "sold out" figures that he keeps managing to restock, and his entire "Buy it now or it's gone forever!" schtick holds no water when he's got deals with Pro Wrestling Tees and other secondary resellers to shift the volume he can't sell himself (e.g. the "limited edition/exclusive Johnny Gargano which is now available through multiple other avenues....)
how is it possible to maintain a positive outlook when companies are just taking the good will of collectors for a joyride??

Zombie said he would continue to sell the “regular” waves for as long as possible, they were never going “rare” other than being a niche product to begin with. And if he still has some pink Sabus or Todd’s to sell that shows that they are indeed a niche thing.
It’s been long enough now, you all know his game.

I know his game, I've followed him since long before the first series was even happening.... (hell, I was going to buy Double Dragons from him, which incidentally part-funded this venture)
back at the start he said when series 1 "sold out" that it was gone for good. the guy relies on FOMO for his marketing, but he tried right at the start to make this sound like a one time only thing, and even did it when Series 2 was launched
yeah, we all know this is his schtick now, but how many people has he conned into buying product at inflated prices which he claimed were later "Sold out" when in reality, he's got another 1500 in the warehouse and his meaning of "sold out" is just the allocation he's assigned for that particular period of sale?

I feel like the retro buzz has died down across the board. I'm pretty regularly checking out the forum for updates on new figures coming out, from all companies, but my buying is very selective and at a minimum purely because so many of these figures are overpriced. I get it, but I'm just not that in need of new figures. Don't get me wrong, I'll still be collecting, just not regularly. The last ones I bought were via Epic, which were bought for a good price, imo. I'm just not willing to spend £50-£60 on a single figure from the likes of ZST, though I've definitely been tempted, but I just don't need another wrestling figure sitting in a cupboard that badly right now. ETA: my buying could and very likely will pick up a bit when Epic release series 3 and Top Rope start putting out their Galoob line. I'm definitely getting Guerrero and Onita from Epic.

I think part of it is that there are just so many retros coming at us from all these different directions that its become impossible to even appreciate them once we get them because its always about whats next or whats on its way or what do i need to preorder. Were not spending any time with the figs. Its a great time to be a collector, but it definitely becomes a bit much esp with how insane prices are for everything. Ive become ridiculously selective with anything mattel. From the packaging to the plastic its all so cheap and overpriced. Elites are literally sharp around the feet/hands/joints and so lightweight and dull compared to how they used to be. Thats why i cant even go down the rabbithole of ryders ljns. Then ill want space and money for those along with eventually regretting selling my black cards years ago.

I know this isn’t the thread for it, but since you mentioned “ryders ljns” which I assume you mean the Major Bendies’ Big Rubber Guys- as someone who grew up on and still loves the LJNs more than any other toy line ever, these are the real deal! I’m just getting the ones that would have fit in the WWF/LJN era personally, but each wave is getting more and more detailed (to the point of surpassing the detail of LJNs, like Zombie surpasses retro Hasbro detail). I’m selective too, buying just Coliseum Collections, Big Rubber Guys, and the occasional Legend (like Albano). I *might* get Zombie’s Bundy 6” scale figure, depending on the price. Again, sorry this is in the wrong thread. Just thought I’d chime in after the “ryders ljns” comment.

How long ago did zombie start showing off power and glory. I feel like it was a good 2 years ago. We spend more time looking at pictures of these figs waiting for them to be released than we do with them once theyre in our collections

At this point Epic is doing the best overall, but you won't hear much of that online. Mitch is all over the road from top to bottom but Im still more into what he's doing than what Zombies up to.

he claimed he made $250,000 in profit from Series 1 right at the start (and that's before he's re-released Series 1 for sale multiple times over) so surely if the hyperbole was true, he'd have cracked at least half a million in profit by now???

No clue on his finances but as he has all of series 3 in hand (5 figures) without preorder, would suggest he's likely doing ok.

Series 3...years later available June 20th don't rush for them folks, his stuff miraculously never sells out
even the "exclusives" are still available through secondary sellers for those who feel the "need" for an exclusive figure
