Again, there are different types of deals and not all of them allow for action figures so it’s gonna depend on what was negotiated. Well im sure you agree that it's a stupid contract. It should cover all bases - merchandise, video games, super cards, action figures. i wouldn't say the contracts are stupid. sometimes two sides just can't meet in the middle on certain details

A big corporation like Mattel has such little say in things?? I find that hard to believe. The classic case of someone not understanding of how the Mattel/ WWE relationship works. If it wasn’t for these types of posts or conversations, there would only be like one or two new threads a month. Mattel 100% has a say …you’re crazy if you think otherwise. Now without a doubt WWE ultimately has the final say but if Mattel is paying WWE millions each year for the license and let’s be honest the number of legends under contract is less than 30 and Mattel has to see all the potential money they could be getting that are going to Zombie and Heels & Faces…..They would be fools to not speak up to WWE about needed more rights to figures. WWE should be open to having this conversation because Mattel is basically giving them millions each year and I’m sure they want to keep receiving those checks.

Mattel is beholden to whomever WWE signs to a figure type deal. Simple as that. Doesn’t matter how much they pay for the license. Steve has already said this numerous times, and it has been talked about to death. This isn’t some type of conspiracy theory where Mattel isn’t telling us all the facts.

It’s a 2 way street and WWE has to keep Mattel happy if they want to do business. If I’m Mattel I’m 100% letting WWE know how I feel when no name toy companies are skirting WWE copyrighted outfits/ names and making millions that Mattel & WWE could be making. WWE needs Mattel more than Mattel needs them. Mattel has 4 times the yearly revenue than WWE.

It's one of the only companies that has a steady stream of new characters/gimmicks to be released and has 7+ hrs of cable/streaming/network tv promotion time every week. There are hundreds of current and Legends roster to choose from - most companies don't have that. And these 3rd party companies that are selling 1700 retros of a figure @ $50 are not making millions. There are way over 30 legends under contract. Mattel has even said the Legend roster is huge. WWE can only sign so many Legends a year because the contracts are 3-5 years and they need to release enough merchandise to not only make money, but so the Legends don't have to pay the $10K back that they get upfront (if they are still doing that). You want all of these new Legends to sign, but then you want Mattel to only release one figure of them and move on to the next FTIL- why would any Legend sign a 5 year deal for one figure that might not even cover the 10K? And why are your posts suggesting that Mattel isn't happy with sales? They can't keep product on the shelves even when adding all of these different lines. And the lines that have all of the repaints of the same Legends that everyone complains about are the first to go.

That would be a complete waste. Let Predator fans collect Predator figures.

And the lines that have all of the repaints of the same Legends that everyone complains about are the first to go. Some of the speculation here is wild. Mattel keeps pumping out additional lines and has more avenues than ever to sell figures. WWE is doing very hot right now and it's very safe to assume that carries over to Mattel. Like you said, there is a finite number of Legends deals at any time. And like any massive company, Legends contracts are part of some department that has a budget, goals, etc. Names drop off and are added all the time. In the Q&A Steve said they just got a few names available just the other week. But those names (usually) have to make sense from a marketing/ROI perspective. Some characters just don't have the same value in WWE's eyes that they do to some collectors. At the end of the day WWE and Mattel need each other. WWE is arguably Mattel's most prominent external property, and Mattel is a massive global company that would be tough to top for WWE.

And considering that Neca were only able to make Arnold & Shane Black (Hawkins), its's pretty apparent that Jesse wasn't interested either or they would've made Blain by now. The predator license is one of those licenses where actor likenesses are a seperate license.

The predator license is one of those licenses where actor likenesses are a seperate license. Exactly, the film and the likeness are separate. Same thing happened years ago with Neca, Bruce Willis, and Die Hard. From what I recall, Neca had the license for Die Hard, but did not have the license for Bruce Willis. They then signed Bruce Willis to get him for another newer movie that he had coming out at the time, and that had a provision written in for his likeness in general, so they applied it to make a Die Hard figure. It was ugly (early days of collectible action figures) but they were able to get a Bruce Willis Die Hard figure from what was apparently some sort of contract shennanigans.

That would be a complete waste. Let Predator fans collect Predator figures. We have Nada from They Live, the Scorpion King, Andre from The Six Million Dollar Man... not really that far fetched to ask for more crossover figures if Mattel can work out the licensing. Probably a lot more complicated since Disney owns Predator, but it would still be a fun figure that Predator fans never got from NECA. But that's fine if you don't want to be a sexual tyrannosaurus.

Fun figure? Yes maybe after we have all of the WWE looks that we want to see from him first. If they made him from Predator now it would be wasted. Wouldn't happen anyway.
