I’ve thought about throwing them all away on more than one occasion. If I didn't hold on to all of them, I'd sell them in a lot and then when I ended up accumulating a ton more afterwards, sell another lot and repeat as necessary

I have every figure I’ve opened since i started collecting in a numbered list. So i bought 1,000 little bags and stickers and number each one corresponding to the number figure they are on the list. Makes finding what i want slightly difficult since i have over 700 figures and probably 500 of them have hands, going to start organizing them in bags by character and letter of the alphabet eventually A numbered list is absolutely genius. Do you just put the stickers on the bags? I might have to do this.

Once i had a pile of hands i knew I’d want to be certain what hands came with what figures.

For the most part, individual bags with any extra accessories. Usually, I don't need labels because there's some kind of obvious accessory (head, rubber shirt, etc.) in the bag with the hands.
I do have a lot of figures I bought for parts, and I'm less fussy about bagging up those. If I bought a bundle of a few Elite figures, all of the bits go in one bag. Haven't thrown any out, but every so often I'll just shift a bunch of parts on eBay.
A lot of my figures aren't displayed with the 'correct' hands anyway.

If a figure comes with an extra head I'll put the head and all hands in a small jewelry bag
Otherwise, I have 2 of those 12 compartment "bead" storage bins from walmart. One for lefts, one for rights. and I just have the hands organized in those. All C-grips in one, fists in multiple, glove hands in one, open palms in one, etc.

if any of you “throw the extra hands away” people happen to have edge’s metal horn hands that you don’t want, i’ll gladly take them off your hands(no pun intended)

I’ve got two sandwich bags stuffed with hands. Whose hands are whose? I dunno. I put on the hands I want, almost always the grip hands because they can hold objects and still look like fists, and chuck the extras in a bag.

Literally this. Heads in one, hands in another. Used to do extra arms in their own bag and boots in their own bag as well back when I had 300+ figures.
