I doubt it Legends/merchandise are longer than one year deals. They probably just didn’t sign exclusivity to the WWE. Jake Robert’s and Billy Gunn still had Mattel figures long after they left and went to AEW. It’s just too bad Sting didn’t do a merchandise deal like Jake & Gunn. It used to be very rare for non-exclusive deals but they seem to be more and more common I wonder if possibly the new ‘heritage’ or whatever it’s called deals are less restrictive than the old ‘legends’ deals? I suppose from wwe (or TKO or whatever) perspective if they sign exclusive deals they prob give the talent a higher % so are going down the route of non exclusive to give the talent a lower % but thinking they’ll still sell the same? E.g. using made up figures: say someone sells 5k units @ $20 and 10% goes to talent on exclusive deal that would be $10k given to the talent. However if they sign them to non exclusive then that’s $5k to talent so wwe can take a bigger cut of profits? Just a thought. |
