It should have been Perfect or Rude. 90 could had several different winners imo: mr perfect rude warrior (woulda made people think hogan would win at mania for sure then) macho king (royalty!) andre (woulda been great to keep him as a major giant here) piper

I think Hogan winning in 90 was the right call, made Warriors triumph seem even more impressive.

I feel like 1991 and 1992 Royal Rumble matches were back to back solid matches. A lot of star power in both.
But 1992 is definitely the best Rumble match from the 90s.
I do feel however, that 1995 could have been if the Rumble was set for 60 minutes like the 1992 one was, and had the guys from the earlier matches competing in the Rumble too.

Yeah, the 1995 rumble match is my least favorite of the 90s. They had more star power in the regular matches than in the entire Rumble match. Bret, Diesel, Taker, Razor, Double J, Bam Bam, all should have pulled double duty that night. Well, maybe not Diesel since he was already the champion. Might have been better if Diesel faced Backlund in a rematch from when Bob lost the title, that way Bret could have been in the Rumble match. Him and Shawn could have started the thing off at 1 and 2.

I'll always say 99 is the worst of the 90s. Not just cause Vince won but just the Rumble was meh overall. Speaks volumes when you got D-Lo,Owen and Bossman in there at the end with Austin and Vince.
Back on the 92 Rumble, Gotta shout out the undercard...
New Foundation/Express was a great opener
Piper winning the IC belt man what a moment. Plus he cut 2 great promos on this show
LOD/Disasters while nothing to write home about was still a fun big man match. Shame this feud didnt get an ending

On paper if you were to look at the wrestlers in the 1999 Royal Rumble match, you would think, "Holy crap! This is gonna be incredible!"
Then you watch it and say, "What the hell was that?!?!"
How the final four in the ring weren't Triple H, Austin, Shamrock and Boss Man still boggles the mind.
Shamrock and Boss Man could have eliminated Triple H, then they turn around, Austin double clotheslines them out of the ring, then from behind comes Mr. McMahon to toss out Austin.
Much better than Owen Hart and D'Lo Brown in there. Nothing against those two, but.... neither man were in any place to have a main event rub at that time in their careers.

That is very true too. I guess I just preferred the 91 and 92 ones better than 89 and 90.

one thing that also made this rumble so great and different is that is was for the wwf world title.
that made it SOOO exciting to me. I really didnt know who they were going to give it to out of hulk, sid, & flair. then macho man was a possibilty, and after piper won the ic belt, i kinda thought maybe they were going to let him win both in one night. then maybe none of the top guys would get it and someone else would win it.
just like with 89/90/93 i couldnt pick who ws going to win.
91 knew it would be hogan to set up hulk/sgt at wm7 94 knew it would be bret or luger didnt think both tho 95 knew it would be micheals as i had dirt sheets at the time and they said vince was so in love with micheals so expect him to win, but thought only luger other than micheals 96 pretty much figured micheals as he was vinces boy toy at the time, but thought just maybe, deisel, yoko or vader might get it 97/98 pretty much figured stone cold. i bet on him with my friends in both of those 02 knew it would be HHH, but was really hoping for angle or mr perfect to win it.

I wish Steamboat was still with the company during this time. Him having interactions with Naitch and Mach wouldve been great Would have been good stuff
