I think we are all familiar with Tony Hawk series. The games were great, except project 8, which was crap.
Skate is a new game coming out August 27th. It is promoted as the most realistic skateboarding game ever. It will take place in ONE town, compared to THPS games, where there are various cities. Some of the skaters featured are Paul Rodriguez, Danny Way, Colin McKay, Rob Dyrdek (With a cameo of Big Black), and PJ Ladd
I have high hopes for SKATE, judging from EA games. And I feel used by tony hawk judging from how shitty Project 8 was (the only good thing to come out of the game was the nail the trick)

I'm personally looking forward to SKATE much more than THPG. I like skating games to be realistic and judging from the gameplay trailer on IGN, it looks promising.
The main thing that bugged me about the Tony Hawk games was the unrealistic physics and stats. Not to mention the almost every wall was sloped like a quarter pipe.

Skate, no doubt. Every year Activision says their upcoming TH game will revolutionize the genre, yet every year the game sucks ass. Skate actually looks to have some promise. Hopefully it'll be a breath of fresh air for skating games, and actually provide some competition to make Activision actually want to make the TH games better.

I feel that the TH games are fun but unrealistic. It's unreal, you cant preform 4 grab moves in the air after going up a slope. and you cant grind for 15 minutes no matter how good your balance is. Skate looks ing promising. Im gonna rent it first but if it's good I will buy it. Watching the trailers make it look realistic, IF you are a pro skater. But hey thats good to me

I really enjoyed TH games on all my systems. But Skate will be my first pick if what I've seen and heard turns out to be true and this game is as awesome as predicted.

Skate hands down.
THPG looks good too, if they sort out the problems from last year then i'll probably pick it up too.
So yeah, skate.
or both...

Skate without a doubt, I am tired of TH's relentless crap circus of a game, where you can fly, skate on fire hydrants, and do all sorts of crapthat has no meaning. While Skate will feature better skaters, and from previews a way better take on how a skating game is supposed to be.

I enjoyed all the TH games so far. I actually thought Project 8 was a big improvement over THAW which is my least favourite of the series.
None of the unrealistic stuff annoys me, as it is a videogame after all.
That being said, I think SKATE will be better than TH just because of how new and fresh it will play in comparison.
