I often go back and forth in my mind regarding what THE moment was when AEW started to get cold.
Cody leaving?
Tony buying ROH?
The Hangman/Punk promo?
Brawl Out?
Or maybe it is just the overarching Tony Khan/Elite management style. All I know is, aside from Brawl Out (shifting around lineups), none of those could or should be used as an excuse for Jazwares' fumbles.
Jazwares' issues lie solely with Jazwares. Why do we get so infrequent product updates/reveals? Why is distribution still abysmal? Why are lineups always announced and then changed 3-5 times after? Remember Jeremy's Unrivaled/Unmatched every other month retail plan? We're in 2024 now and still have zero update about Vault. It took a rogue Jazwares employee to come to this forum and tell us more about this line than the company or Jeremy has told us for over a year (then he vanished). AEW hasn't been giving mainstream wrestling audiences much to be excited about but that shouldn't stop Jazwares from a proper schedule and being timely. We're not in supply chain COVID mode anymore.
The toyline seems to have gone the same way. They seem to have simply fallen apart. That L O N G gap where there was no new product coming out - to Ringside or to the shelves. That on top of what can be called anything else but $h!t communication from the company, was a big hurt. New things are trickling in to Ringside, and even a few things hitting retail. Hopefully they can get back on track, but I am not holding my breath. Will be interesting to see where they are a year from now.
FWIW, Punk was going to be out 8-9 months with the torn tricep with or without Brawl Out.
