One thing is for sure and that’s Kyle needs to learn how to be more cryptic with his hints if he indeed doesn’t want to be the one to spoil things. Honestly, shoulda just came out and said what it was with the obvious clues he dropped.

When is this due out and am I correct in saying it will be limited edition on the day on the Mattel creation site? 7/24 at SDCC or 7/25 on Mattel Creations

One things for sure, how about we stop name dropping people who spoil it for the rest of us?
Call it jealousy all you want. It's irritating is what it is.

You couldn’t be more wrong dude…I’m a massive nit-picker. Does it not show? Tbh I'm just having a great time appreciating that it's a wrestling figure in wrestling attire after last year when I voiced my displeasure with the Ali set I had People coming out of the wood work to come at me. I also nitpick figures so I understand. I took your criticism and used it as a blanket statement so that's my bad Ya know what would make a good comic con exclusive? A wrestler in wrestling attire, ya know like the 30 other ultimate editions we get every year. Though I do agree Muhammad Ali was they're first step in the wrong direction. Boxing is not the crossover people want at a comic con. Mattel should've stuck to branding like the slim Jim macho man or movies like no holds barred.

I wanna buy that but I have issues with this. The torso is too bulky. None of the heads are good. Mattel have only created like one good HBK head sculpt. What’s the point of that eyes closed head sculpt if the winged eagle isn’t included.

I don’t necessarily hate this choice but it seems like it shoulda been a regular release. The zip line feels like a useless accessory thrown in to justify the $45 price tag & why it needed to be an exclusive. I’m not even advocating that it shoulda once again had crossover appeal. Just something that truly feels like that could only be pulled off for SDCC. Again, not really hating on this, it just doesn’t have that “wow factor” for me.
*For example, do Barber Shop HBK or SS02 or maybe even HBK as Hogan. Something that would be a harder sell for a mainline release.

Welp, that's all I needed for SDCC to win this year. I really don't care what else gets shown. I'm in heaven right now! Thank you Action Figure Attack!

wow!
honestly kind of a lackluster choice and could’ve just been a normal ue or even like an rsc exclusive but it’s still nice

As Steve Ozer said on the podcast "it's an Ultimate Edition that's cool and I think people will like it" he didn't seem overly enthused about it though and after the first looks at it settles down, that's how it feels. Especially someone who already diluted the excitement of it by dropping obvious hints but not outright telling everyone because of his Mattel privileges being revoked.

Wow, an A-Lister who already has tons of figures and would easily sell in a regular line!
Yawn.

I think another factor as to why this lacks excitement for me is that this is the 4th time they’ve done WM12 HBK. And you can save the “but you can’t compare those to this…it’s UE…it has a zip line” arguments. I get that, but doesn’t change the fact that this look has already been done multiple times over. It’s nothing new and fresh that we haven’t already seen before.

few thoughts assuming this is it....
Why are we seeing the SDCC Exclusive a month before SDCC? Is the world seriously THAT impatient?
$45 is way too steep for something like this. a WM 12 Ultimate with the gear could have sold as a Target Legends one. The fact that it doesn't even come with a winged eagle is disappointing too
Same head we've seen like 5x now and no alternate heads or hands? It just feels like they sunk 90% of the budget into this zipline thing that 40 people are going to find use for. *EDIT* ok now I see at least it comes with a couple extra heads, hands and arms. That helps and one of the heads looks like its brand new
Personally I'm keeping this one in the box anyway so yes it's a cool looking thing, but I'm not setting up dental floss across my ceiling so I can pose this HBK at the top of one of my bookcases, ready to fly across the room.
It's a beautiful figure. Maybe there's more to it that we don't know yet? but none of the pictures are showing anything else....so I gotta assume no. Just feels underwhelming for a SDCC exclusive that's $12+ shipping more than a regular Ultimate
Would rather have paid the usual $70 and gotten a 2 pack of that HBK and Bret (with his entrance gear) plus a winged eagle instead of them eating the budget on a pointless zipline harness

I think it's a solid choice and a good selection for SDCC.... Figure detail looks incredible to me! Not sure if I'll buy or not, having some financial issues at the moment (my car died and I need to buy a new car NOW)..... but if I can swing it, I might order one. Packaging looks phenomenal! I understand those that are under-whelmed..... and even though it might not be "for me" this is a great choice for SDCC!

It feels like Mattel is looking at the Ali set still sitting in inventory and like "hmm maybe we shouldn't go so hard on the wrestling SDCC exclusives" not understanding WHY that set wasn't the most ideal choice in the first place

It's a figure I want at a price I'm willing to pay. That's a win in my book.
After Ali being a total dud last year, it's smart to play it down the middle. It's an iconic moment, a figure that badly needed a do-over, and one that hasn't been available in quite a few years. I'd bet their first choice still would have been a pop culture crossover, but they can only make what's available to them. They could have done something Hogan related from a movie, but there are a lot of moving parts around licensing and people have been complaining all year about there being too many Hogans.

Maybe a two pack would have been a better idea. But then as usual the finished article of the usual Bret face scans would have turned people off.

If it was Hogan he would be over the moon. I take it he isn’t much of an HBK fan.
