If it’s going to feature the Hulkster - which I think it should, being such a Hogan geek, not to mention Hulk sells bigtime, AND it’s the 40th anniversary of WWF HULKAMANIA - then it should be something pretty iconic.
I was being kinda silly when I mentioned a Thunderlips/Rocky/Clubber Lang triple pack, but upon reflection, I think Thunderlips is the way to go with Hulk. Other than Thunderlips, what other Hogan portrayal could there be that matches that? Suburban Commando isn’t that huge, Mr. Nanny would be hilarious, actually, but a bit insane… Pastamania in a stylized pasta box would be kinda neat, but so goofy… I personally would love to see an “Anything less would be uncivilized” Right Guard Hogan figure with paint and easel beach display, but that’s me being a madman…
I missed out on most of the WCW years, believe it or not, so I’m not into Rodman.
So I don’t know, I guess. I’d like the SDCC to feature Hogan, but it should be unique and very eye catching.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about regarding Right Guard:

While Ali may be the bigger overall name he doesn’t evoke that nostalgia appeal and most wrestling fans do not have a connection with Ali either. Plus Ali was overproduced and not necessarily unwanted. Cyndi, on the other hand, is an 80s icon and hits that sweet spot of crossover appeal. Her role was instrumental in the Rock n Wrestling connection and selling WrestleMania to a mass audience. People questioned Mr T’s appeal as well and was quickly proven wrong. Lauper is pretty much up there with him as far as 80s nostalgia and wrestling importance. What is the sweet spot for crossover appeal for Cyndi Lauper? Her main demographic now consists of 40-70+ year old women/gay men. Of those, how many are non-wrestling collectors and how many are willing to drop $70+ for an action figure of her and some manager they might recognize from her videos 40 years ago? Mattel would probably be better off releasing a Barbie of her like the Stevie Nicks doll. Straight guys liked Lauper as well. Every kid of the 80s has nostalgia for just about anything during the MTV era. Cyndi was up there with Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, etc as one of the biggest pop artists of that generation.

I'm thinking it will be some sort of CM Punk figure...... We seem to be going through a Punk revival at the moment. Otherwise, my vote is for Piledriver Hogan. Piledriver Hogan would be awesome!

GI Joe style Roddy Piper WM3 Alice Cooper and Jake Roberts Hogan and or Macho Man or anybody else from the Stand Back music video Wedding or reunion Savage and Elizabeth Dusty Rhodes and Cody Rhodes (Might work better in 2025, do Dusty with the big gold belt and Cody with the WWE title)

WM3 Alice Cooper and Jake Roberts They could charge any amount for this and I’d still buy two.

Every kid of the 80s has nostalgia for just about anything during the MTV era. Cyndi was up there with Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, etc as one of the biggest pop artists of that generation. I never said that they didn't, but there is a difference between liking X amount of songs 40 years ago and actually spending over $70 on an action figure of her and Lou (for non-wrestling fans). Most probably haven't spent that much to actually see her in concert or are aware of any of her albums/work after the 80s. You mentioned crossover appeal and the main objective of crossover appeal is to get new eyeballs on the product and buy it. I really don't think most music fans (again - non-wrestling fans) would buy a one off figure when there are other companies and brands that cater to that niche (NECA, Super 7, Funko, Barbie, etc.). And these would have to be music fans that actually buy figures/are a fan of Cyndi and be aware that the SDCC exclusive exists. There might be a small amount (doubt it would be in the hundreds let alone thousands), but i think a very large majority of the people that will buy it will be wrestling fans. Her Funko pop is still warming at my Walmart. So going back to my original point, I don't think they would have released Lou in April 2024 and risked hurting sales/excitement if they were just going to release a two pack of Lou/Lauper 3 months later. I think it is more likely that Hogan will be included to drive sales (if they even have her signed).

WM3 Alice Cooper and Jake Roberts They could charge any amount for this and I’d still buy two. same. along the lines of the wrestler and rocker pairing idea…i’d totally buy a triple h and lemmy 2 pack from either wrestlemania that motörhead played at. toss in some type of display stand that plays ‘the game’ and take my money.

I realize that whenever celebrities in wrestling is brought up Kevin Greene is never mentioned. Surely there’s a Panther or Steeler fan out there that wants him.

What they should do: Either DX Mike Tyson or NWO Rodman. Or both.
What they will probably do: Captain Lou and Cyndi Lauper
And if they go with the second, they will likely sell even less figures than they did this year with Ali. I agree, there isn't nearly as much crossover appeal with Lauper and Lou as the average collector thinks there is. WE want them, but that's because we long for the legends of that time. Most casual fans nowadays don't even know who either of them are let alone that they had anything to do with wrestling.
They probably with go with the Lauper/Lou combo, but if they are smart, they'll make far fewer of them than they did the Ali figures.

Not gonna lie, as a WWE: The Music theme addict from all the way back with Vol. 2, this would be about the only Hogan I would eagerly buy.

If a tutu-clad Mr. Nanny Hogan figure was to be offered in Barbie-pink packaging with a rotating stand that showcased his pirouette pose in 360 degrees… How could I resist??

Guessing given the MNW focus we are going to see over the coming year +, I’m guessing it will tie directly into that era. My guess is either Tyson, Rodman or maybe Malone. Could they double it up and do 2x 2 packs, DDP/Malone and Hogan/Rodman? Maybe it’s HBK/Tyson?
Something like that is what I’d be assuming they are planning.
