With the Royal Rumble coming up next month, I felt like going back and watching the Royal Rumble matches from 1988 - 2023. I am just gonna do the actual Rumble matches and not the entire show. With that being said, I watched the 1990 one tonight.
I have to say.... it is an incredible Rumble match! Everything about it seems perfect. From the amount of guys in the ring at all times, to who eliminates who, to the big showdown between Hogan and Warrior, the managers getting into it at ringside, it's just a really fun, great Rumble match.
It is probably my second favourite Rumble match behind the 1991 one, which I feel has a lot of the same similarities as this one.
Anyone else have any memories on this Rumble??

My favorite moment from that Rumble is not Hogan and Warrior, but the moment Jake Roberts enters, coming for the Million Dollar Man. The crowd goes nuts! Watching that never gets bored.

Red HOT crowd for sure. Like wwfcollector1973 mentioned, Jake's entrance nearly blew the roof off the building. DiBiase's reaction to it was also fantstic. Just star studded all around. My 2nd fav Rumble of all time. Those early Rumbles man so much fun to watch.Great memories

Really fun Rumble and having not seen the 1989 Rumble, watching this as a kid blew my mind. At the time it was the most exciting match that I ever saw, Warrior and Hogan had me on the edge of my seat.
Only weird thing about this Rumble is the first few guys have their entrance music and then they gave up 😂

Only 5 guys didnt have theme music... Warlord Barb BNB Andre Haku

My favorite moment from that Rumble is not Hogan and Warrior, but the moment Jake Roberts enters, coming for the Million Dollar Man. The crowd goes nuts! Watching that never gets bored. The Warrior/Hogan moment is iconic, especially at the time, that had to be the first time those two shared a ring together on a big stage. But, the Jake/DiBiase moment was also amazing. Though, I think my favorite part of the entire rumble match was when Jake, DiBiase, Savage, and Piper were all in the ring together; very entertaining. I've also been going through old Rumble PPVs recently, here is what I wrote about this one in the Last Classic Match you watched thread: Royal Rumble 1990
A great Rumble Match, maybe the second best ever behind 1992's Rumble Match. Great pacing throughout the match. The crowd was into everything that was going on. I really liked the balance, they had big stars throughout, Macho/Jake/DiBiase/Piper at the beginning of the match; loved this part in the rumble, these four were tremendous together and the crowd was going nuts. Then you get Hogan/Warrior/Rude/Perfect at the end, with Dusty, Andre, and Demolition in the middle of the match. That iconic moment of the Hogan and Warrior stare down/battle, and I liked that they didn't overdo it; it was a great moment that left you wanting more. Also, one of the best eliminations in Rumble history occurred in this one; I liked how Rude was eliminated, that was awesome. And some of you need to go back and watch it to answer me this, did Bret get the 3rd loudest reaction when he entered the rumble match? I think only Hogan and Warrior got a louder reaction from the crowd. Well, maybe 4th, Dusty got a big reaction, too.
One of my favorite non-Rumble matches occurred at this event too, I really liked the Garvin/Hammer match. Just a slugfest between these two; some of those chops just looked and sounded vicious. I liked the story of the hammer jammer vs. the shin guard. Good stuff. None of the other matches were anything to write home about; they weren't bad, but nothing great. Hacksaw vs Bossman was fun.

The fans went nuts for that too when Rhodes eliminated Savage!
Also, you know a moment in time for wrestling is special when even Bobby Heenan himself, stays at ringside to see Hogan and Warrior go at it, and you can actually tell at that moment that Heenan isn't watching that as "The Brain" but as a fan. A legit fan. I think everyone at that moment was. Hogan vs. Warrior in the ring at the same time?!?! How can you not be a fan of that even if you don't care for either man. That was huge!

They got off to a really hot start with the Mania build with this segment in the match no doubt bout it Both Jesse and Tony sold it to perfection as well

A great match. Loved when Rude came out before the buzzer to attack Hogan. And the timing with Rude’s elimination was perfect (no pun intended).

My favorite moment is Savages beautiful elimination backdrop spot. Dude got launched.
Also loved the intensity of Jake Roberts-Dibiase clash. The Piper/Roberts Dibiase/Savage team ups were fun too.
Rude entering outta nowhere was weird but that elimination spot he and Perfect just used at SS 89 was great though.

I feel like 1990 Rumble gets overlooked cos of 1992 Rumble. I love both but the 1990 match really deserves its credit tbh.
