Roman beating Cody at mania was a bad decision.

Roman beating Cody at mania was a bad decision. Nah. It was the correct move. Instead of hotshotting Cody the title after being back with the company for maybe 3-4 months would’ve done nothing for anyone. Nowhere to go but down at that point so quickly. Instead, he’s built this story all year. It’s been an entire year that Hunter has gotten more use out of Cody chasing the title. A several month program with Brock, where he “earned the respect” of Lesnar. Building a resume for himself. And at the same time, he’s made a star out of Roman Reigns. If Hunter can find creative ways to continue it, Cody can keep the hunt going past Mania this year. The key to that though is making it creative and interesting. Something they’re struggling with these past couple of months. At this point, Cody winning the Rumble again isn’t the worst idea. Does Cody’s story being finished HAVE to involve Roman Reigns?

Does Cody’s story being finished HAVE to involve Roman Reigns? Personally, I say yes. Triple H is pretty intentional about things, and I don’t think he gave us this moment for no reason.

But that’s the thing, plans can change. As long as the destination is reached. Cody’s story isn’t beating Roman Reigns. It’s not even winning the title specifically at WrestleMania. It’s winning the WWE Championship.
Just seems this year is the perfect year to finally do Roman/Rock, but you’ve also built up this “story” angle all year. Hunter has booked himself into what seems to be a corner. A really good corner, but still. Haha… I’m sure there’s a logical endgame to all of this. Best part about Hunter’s booking, is sitting back and watching the story unfold.

Top babyface conquering the top heel is wrestling 101. And at the biggest stage? That's literally the basis of WrestleMania.
What we have is WWE doesn't like to do Wrestling 101 because it's "obvious" meanwhile WWE is usually fairly obvious in their doings regardless. But I digress
Rock swooping in about this time shortly after Punk coming back is very poetic. If they want a WrestleMania main event match then there's alot of money in Punk - Rock III. Just a thought

I'm a fan of the Rock but would be just fine if it was his final match. It would be a sweet retirement

I agree, for me only way Cody's story ends in a satisfying way personally is with him beating Roman(preferably at Mania 40) for that title. I get everybody feels different and that's perfectly fine if they want him to beat Rollins for his,if he takes it down the line from whoever beats Roman etc but that just feels like a consolation prize at this point for me. As much as I don't want to think about it happening, ill take Cody finishing the story next years Mania if need be over him just beating Seth or Punk for that title sooner. I get Rock/Roman at Mania is probably to big of a temptation to not go for if possible but I hope they do it another time for the fans that wants it instead costing Cody his spot

I'd take Roman - Rock over Roman - Cody anyday for WM40. It's 40, it has to have a big match. Cody ain't it.

As much as I’m ready for Cody to become champion, it’s hard to pass up an opportunity (probably the last) to get The Rock in this spot. I’d still like to see Cody vs. Orton at Mania. I’m a believer that Cody’s story doesn’t have to be beating Roman though. Let Cody beat his mentor to win the title.

If you go down the street and ask people who Cody Rhodes is, compared to the Rock, I think you'll have your answer for what is the bigger match.

Exactly the point here though. You have the opportunity (assume his schedule is open) to run The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania… they’d be silly to not do it. I just personally hope the title isn’t involved.

Yeah it should be his final match.
At this point he just comes back to wrestling when his popularity drops or he failed at the Box office.

as cool as it is and as much as we have wanted it, we all know he is gonna lose to Roman... passing the torch though is not really the thing here since we know he will eventually lose the strap and half retire - the reason he is part timer is due to his health, he really cannot afford to wrestle weekly. Rock's final match but not his final appearance. Rocks final match but he'll show up every now & then for promos etc

If Rock Vs. Roman happens it's going to happen at Elimination Chamber not WrestleMania because the Australian government is paying The Rock to be there not WWE and Nick Khan wants to make these B level PLE's special except for the Rumble and Mania most of the PLE's aren't in the United States.
