Continuing on with the Rumble threads during Rumble season…
What did you guys think of this one? Good? Bad? Understand? Overrated? Great? Decent? Epic?
The Rumble match for me was good. It was the best since 94 tbh. I’d say it was way better than 95-99. The Rock winning was predictable but it was still a fun match.
The Rumble had Rock, Big Show, Kane, X PAC, Jericho, Bulldogs, Bossman, Edge, Backlund, Rikishi , Chyna , Test etc.

Really enjoyed this event. Tazz debut, Hardy’s vs Dudley’s and Triple H v Cactus Jack were fantastic matches. The rumble match itself was enjoyable.
I remember this being the first PPV show on channel 4 in the uk and the backlash caused by Mae Young’s striptease, which killed the relationship between WWF and Channel 4 before it began.
I also hated the feud between the Rock and Big Show that continued on from this event, but as a stand alone was a great event to kick off the new millennium.

Watching this as it happened was one of my favorite WWE shows/moments growing up.
Tazz's debut was great, and Cactus/HHH is still to this day one of the best WWE title matches ever imo.
Had this show on the other day and it still holds up.

Def agree with it being the best Rumble since 94
Taz's debut was so well done just a shame it didnt last
Cactus/Trips still a masterpiece 24 yrs later. Magic with these two for sure. Foley did a great job in cementing Trips in that main event role.

I'm going to go the opposite; I thought the Rumble match was horrible. Other than the Rock, the fans didn't care about anything, and there wasn't anything special about it otherwise. I guess we all should have known they were going to do something similar to the 1995 finish, since they played up that fact at the beginning of the match showing Shawn having only one foot touch. Also has to be the worst two entrants (D-Lo and Grand Master Sexay) to start off the match in history, even worse than 97's first two entrants, Crush and Ahmed Johnson.
The undercard was good. The Cactus/HHH match was really good, I would have loved for Cactus to win the belt here then lose it back to HHH at the February PPV. Taz had a great debut, shame it was all downhill after this. I wish he and Kurt could have been given more time. Also, Kurt was so good as a heel, I really liked this period of his career. The tag team title match was short, probably best for Road Dogg and Billy Gunn. It did have some good action, so not bad. I didn't really care for the Dudley/Hardy's match; I was never a big fan of the Hardy's, they were the first iteration of the type of wrestling we see today - spot heavy, very little storytelling, wrestling. The Miss Rumble was really bad. None of the ladies were that popular, so the fans didn't really care too much, and it only got worse once Mae came out. Did she really flash the crowd? Or did she have something covering her up (flesh colored)?
Overall, a bad PPV. Other than the Cactus/HHH match, nothing else is must see.
Also, heel Rock > face Rock.

I liked the Rumble match, but it was very predictable & there are MANY better Rumbles tbh. 2000 Rumble was can be very forgettable for many but I just loved the year 2000 in general, so maybe that's why I rank it up there a lil bit higher than others. I just loved this Rumble since it was a breathe of fresh air for me. 95 was just bad, 96 & 99 was also bad stuff, I liked 97 & 98 tho. 2000 just felt different. I'd say it was better than every Rumble from 95-99 easily.

Best overall Rumble PPV. Tazz classic debut. Table match classic. 5 star street fight & a top 5 Rumble match. Rikishi steals the show. Rock & Big Show over as hell.

This Rumble has a solid undercard, THe Taz debut was amazing, I was marking out big time for that and they made him seem like such a big deal. It was awesome that The Radicalz came in, but once they did it was like Vince had a new set of toys and Taz was pushed to the side.
Hardys vs Dudles is an amazing match and usually gets overlooked among the ladder and TLC matches.
Triple H vs Cactus Jack is one of the best matches in Rumble history, both guys did amazing work here and just beat the hell out of each other. It was brutal, but not over the top brutal like Mankind vs Rock the year prior.
The actual Rumble match was ok, the only things I really remember from it are that Rikishi had one hell of a showing and that Too Cool did their little dance thing which was fun.
This also has an awesome set, the WWF/E used to be so creative with their set designs, these days everything looks the same!

The fans popped for every entrant besides Al Snow I don't know, they seemed subdued for most of the entrants. I remember when Backlund came out and the audience gave him a good ovation, I thought to myself, geez, Backlund is getting a better reaction than most everyone else in the match.

was only ok for me i was losing interest right about now and didnt like many of the stars in wwf at the time Same. Other than guys who had been around for a while, none of the new ones really did anything for me. Kurt Angle may have been the last guy that came along that I really liked.
