Many people point to Hogan winning the WWF title as the opening salvo of Vince Jr's national expansion. What if Hulk Hogan isn't in the picture? Was there someone else that could have moved the needle to help push the WWF into the mainstream and further?

Think I remember hearing forget from who(maybe Prichard) that vince really thought about Kerry Von Erich but doubt that works near as well as Hogan.

Sgt. Slaughter has my vote
Perfect fit as like Hogan was that All American babyface Vince loves. Plus you add in how crazy over he was and you got a winner IMO

Sarge and Rock N' Wrestling don't seem like a fit.

Imagine putting all your stock in em only for em to F up with his demons And I agree he wasnt the strongest promo

A couple of dark horses I've pondered before are babyface Roddy Piper or Paul Orndorff. I think the most likely scenario is a more ensemble approach rather than having that true #1 star.

My scenario for the first Mania is Sheiky vs Sarge for the belt with Sarge going over
Imagine the MSG POP of him taking town the evil Iranian and bringing that belt back to the US

hulk had that it thing
i honestly dont think everything would got as big without him
hulk, piper, cindy lauper, mr.t, vince, & mtv helped put wrestling on the map without a doubt, but hogan was the main factor in it all

I'll say this about Hogan... He no doubt changed the game 40 yrs ago. You simply cant bring up the history of the biz without him at the forefront. That said, My stance will never change...
