There are many possibilities. In the past I was able to find or even purchase some cancelled figures and sets thru different sites. The fact that they have actual photos of the figures in packaging is interesting. It verifies that they got them into very advanced phase of production. Careful with that first line there. And the packaged shots mean nothing - Chief Jay Strongbow is also out there in-box, but completely and utterly illegally.Wait, he wasn't released at all? I could have sworn the reason he got pulled was someone found one of the figures on the shelf and complained. I didn't realize it was never released at all. |

Batista and Ali need to be saved. Reigns and Rollins will find there way into another wave, because we need more of them clogging shelves in those same attires, that have been released countless times.
Strongbow was practically released, it was a last minute pull. It should have been released, but a few people had to ruin it. Could be sold as a Ringside/Mattel Creations exclusive not at mass retail. There a bunch of other items when you go around from store to store that are probably worse than a wrestler portraying a native american gimmick.

i dont blame retailers not wanting them, 3 lameduck basics and a niche Ali...lol. if thats indeed the true result. Ali shouldve never had a MC figure , the basic ref release made more sense which i dont mind but its not something that was even needed and many kids have no idea who the hell he is.. even the elite boxing one , is a wasted spot. this isnt a pro boxing line... smh. that spot was just wasted to me..

Here's a little update for those who might be interested in this basic Muhammad Ali or other figures from the WM40 series set. In the last couple days some of the major wrestling figure sites or podcasts have covered this topic. Figheel wrote on his Instagram that 'they were never canceled, @ringsidedec just isn't carrying them', while Matt Cardona said on The Major Wrestling Figure Podcast that 'they are not cancelled, they are gonna be very limited, they'll be out'. These comments might shed some light on this topic, but it seems like a sudden change after the earlier official statements that they were cancelled and won't be produced.

mattel is making too many of the same guys over and over again. just constant seth, roman, etc.
batista hasnt been around in YEARS, why was he getting a Wrestlemania basic? this set was so beyond underwhelming. and its not surprising retailers didn't want it.
theres way too much product coming out and they aren't even stocking what's available.

They talked about showing product and he noted that we saw something (WM basics) that aren't going to come, but they are always looking for ways to rescue figures (they just won't be released in the WM basic 40 series in 2024). Now maybe something has changed since then, but they were definitely cancelled as of 10/13/23 (and still might be - influencers can be wrong too). |

People made this same claim about E1 Jeff Hardy, so it could be true that a few made it through I can confirm this I bought two on 1-2-10. My friend told me it wasn't supposed to be released as I bought 2 and there were 4 there. I went back to buy the rest and they were pulled and I asked what the deal was and the employees urged me to return them as it was a recalled item and I would recieve a refund and a $20 gift card for my trouble I opted to keep the items. I'm the guy who made a custom out of a e1 Jeff Hardy. The video is on YouTube. 😂 |

I remember this interview but the key sentence is "looking for ways to rescue figures". Figheel and Matt Cardona seem pretty confident about what they wrote/said and did this on more than one occasion. I know these guys might be wrong but I'm sure they have pretty good insight. As far as I know the cancellation of WM40 series wasn't related to legal issues so I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way to an exclusive retailer or just got a delayed release. We haven't seen news about new top picks figures and a set like this one with Reigns/Rollins/Batista could work pefectly as a quick replacement if there is a need for top talent. We will probably find out in the upcoming month or two. |
