Counterpoint: that figure sucks because the head looks like trash. The sculpt is fine. It’s the paint apps that make it look off. Same exact head with TrueFX will be much much better 100%. Add a blonde wash over the hair as well

Those early Mattel figures had great sculpts ruined by lousy paint jobs. I thought Tito Santana’s sculpt was awful until I saw a fantastic repaint, and it was absolutely dead-on. Pillman also suffers from the same problem as figures like the Texas Tornado, where Mattel tended to make curly/frizzy hair look very chunky.

That crazed grin is a great sculpt ruined by paint application. There are quite a few old sculpts I wanna see redone with TrueFX

So is TrueFX moreso the paint than the actual scans?

So is TrueFX moreso the paint than the actual scans? Yes. There are some head sculpts that were done before TrueFX that Mattel has re-released with TrueFX.

So is TrueFX moreso the paint than the actual scans? Yes, TrueFX is the process of printing directly onto the surface of the figure instead of painting it.

I wouldn't call it trash, but that Pillman sculpt is still a little off. TrueFX will definitely help it, and I'd buy it, but it needs to be squashed a little so it's more square than oval.
I need a Flyin' Brian resculpt more, though. It just wasn't very good, and it's one that TrueFX wouldn't help much as far as accuracy.

Same exact head with TrueFX will be much much better I think the head scan isn't too bad but I think a new hair mold would work better if his hair was styled like this. The left side covering part of his face.
