I have sent a few emails/messages to Jazwares and Jeremy Padawer throughout the last year and a half probably, just asking for answers as to why distribution has not been good since mid 2022. I obviously never expected any answer but they have truly been radio silence. So I thought Id start a thread where maybe we can discuss what is going on? It just seems like Ringside is the only place to find anything. Is the line dead? Is it just not on Jazwares radar since their money makers are pokemon and squishmellow? Any of you guys have any answers you have heard of or know of?

That’s just how they are. They’ve never shown any sign of wanting to interact with fans since the fanfests stopped. Were lucky if we get a random twitch stream of Mark Sterling or Evil Uno showing something off; usually streamed from a potato.
A lot of people jumped into collecting in 2020 and fell out of it last year and the stores are showing it. Not just Jazwares, but everyone. Legends waves were frequently on clearance last year and now Targets seem to get just a case of each figure.
I would hope we get some kind of news in a few weeks because the last wave of figures we’ve seen any sort of prototypes of are hitting stores now. What’s left is the Vault stuff and some greyscale renders of the next couple of waves.

Them announcing a lot of line-ups in advance then changing them didn't help matters either. Dark Order was Unmatched 3 and Alex Reynolds still hasn't come out. Then you got the Bunny as a chase figure, debut figures shouldn't be the chase, as the only way to get them.
Squishmallows are there biggest seller, since a lot of people are collecting them.

I'm starting to think they might just be fufilling whatever contractual requirements are in place. I don't think it was ever said how long their deal was for, but Jazwares seems to have lost total interest in the license. I'd love to be wrong. But the ongoing lack of any info beyond a handful of online items to be released at some vague point in time has me losing hope fast.
It's a real bummer considering the momentum that this line started with. But the team never seemed great. I think Magic has largely done good design work and seems passionate. But Greg Mitchell always came off as a total clown and Jeremy is all about the hype.

There’s only about a half dozen other talent I want figures from but at this rate it’s asking a lot.

It seems to have all the warning signs of a dead brand, cancelled toy line.
This may be a really stupid question but does Jazwares pay money to AEW to license their talent, or does Tony pay Jazwares to make the figs?
If it’s the former, I can definitely see Jazwares being negative. ESP if they ate it regarding the stuck sets at retail

No stores are carrying the line and Jazwares is shifting focus to their bestselling UFC line.

My meijers, walmarts and targets are still stocked with Nyla Rose, Jake Hager, Adam Page in street clothes, and Matt Jackson. You’d think stores would discount them after years and years but no.

But in general, the toy company is going to pay X dollars for the licensing rights (probably an annual payment) to the product and then percentage of royalties on product sold. There are also most likely some requirements for the manufacturer where they need to keep delivering some minimum amount of product or the contract can be voided. A recent example is WWE trying to void their trading card contract with Panini, though in that case WWE was just trying to get out of the deal sooner because they already had a new manufacturer lined up.

I really hope this line isn’t gonna be cancelled. It’s been so fun to collect an as much crap as they get the line has been pretty good. Would suck to see it end before we get some more of the names out.

This board always hits the doom and gloom button every time we reach a point where nearly everything they've shown off has come out. But Vault is apparently still a thing. We know that first wave of ROH figures are ready to go and that Supreme Malachi Black probably isn't far off either. Revolution is in two weeks and I would like to think we might get some kind of update around then. But who the hell knows.

I found a 1 3000 suited Cody the other day at retail, which was cool. I think the line is garbage for the most part, and the distro stinks too. The brand just has no buzz, and kids looking for wrestling figures don’t give a crap about AEW figures.

Is it because AEW is low down on their radar?
They make cocomelon, squidhmallows, fortnight, peppa, Roblox, nerf. All huge brands.

You’d think stores would discount them after years and years but no. my local target finally took Nyla off the pegs after 2 years and put out unmatched which is selling great, they put out new figures and people are buying them who would have thought

Kyle Peterson was a guest on the Wrestling Figure News Podcast to plug his new book. If I heard it correctly, he alluded to a change from Jazwares that he was made aware of that hasn't been announced yet. No specifics were given, but if there is some kind of announcement coming, it may explain the silence.

I wonder if they're going to become fully RSC/Vault/Online Exclusive? Not sure how/if the financials could work there.

Not sure, because the new product seems to be moving fine at Target. If that were the case, wouldn't it make more sense for the online retailers to be getting the new product 1st. Not the other way around.

Yeah a fresh lineup moves hella fast. It's when the same series hits multiple times across multiple stores in an area that slows sales down.

This title makes it sound like they're accused of murder or something, lol. It's an action figure line. And they're still coming out, as we're getting two new sets on the shelves at this moment.
There were times pre-Steve where we rarely ever heard from Mattel. It comes and goes in waves.
