With dead wrestlers, it 100% is also up to their estates. Vince held a lot of grudges but a lot held grudges against him and the company. As I read this, Owen Hart immediately came to mind. His wife allowed AEW to make a figure, to please fans. So if Vince, and his family, are out of the picture, would Mrs Hart allow TKO to make an wwe Owen? I wish. Highly doubtful. She doesn’t want WWE making any money off of Owen’s name. |

I wish. very highly doubtful I think the damage between her and wwe has already been done, while the 3 aew ones weren’t the most desirable attires I think those are the only modern style Owens were gonna get |

When it comes to the specific stuff we're talking about (Legends deals, figures, etc.) I really don't think things are going to change nearly as much as people seem to assume. And frankly, I think what changes there are may be "negative" ones in the new of what we're discussing.

I wish we’d gotten more Vince figures before the awful news came out. The fact that there was never a suited Attitude Era Vince is criminal…But we also should have gotten a 1997 announcer Vince and early-2000s wrestling attire Vince.

Legends who I could imagine now getting signed and getting multiple figs across form factors:
Demolition, Barbarian (multiple looks), Legion of Doom
Less likely, due to lower perceived marketability, but I’d still really want: Hercules, Haku
Not sure if they’re touchable due to reputations:
Dino Bravo, Dynamite Kid
I don’t recall who was part of the steroids lawsuit testifying against WWF/McMahon, but I’d think that’s at least close to a non-factor now if the talent are still seen as marketable.

There’s still a ton of new characters (I’m sure I could come up with close to 100) I’d want in the elite line.
They made the Goon…no one is too obscure.
Like others have said (I’m a parent of 2 kids under 10) kids these days aren’t the main collectors of toys/action figures. It’s the adults who not only are the main collectors, but the main people spending the money if the kids do want a physical toy.
Not a popular enough character/kids won’t know who they are, is a moot argument.

I’ve heard the Legends contracts can be BS and they don’t want you working for other companies. Are you really worried about Tully Blanchard working somewhere else if he has a Legends contract? You’re not gonna use him on TV, so what does it matter?
I think they should tweak the Legends contracts so it’s just a merch deal without hindering their ability to work in places that will actually use them. That way WWE can make money and the talent can make more money. Everybody wins.

I have the original, but another shot at Dean Malenko would be pretty cool IMO
Wonder if this makes guys like Liger, Ultimo, etc. more likely to get signed for figures.

With PWT, a bunch of indie toy makers emerging, and plenty of conventions there is less of a reliance on WWE and their legends deals for retired wrestlers or their estates.

Billy Gunn and Jake Roberts have been in AEW for years while still getting WWE dolls released. |
