Orndorff main eventing with Hogan, Mr. T, and all the glitz and glamour to the NY opener with Muraco that didn't go 5 minutes and ended in a double countout.
One I'm on now: Sheamus. Coming off a WWE Title reign, facing Trips in a big program, eventually retiring him from full-time competition. Next year, defending the US Title on the preshow that eventually morphed into a non-title battle royal, that he didn't even win.

Edge TLC at 17 vs Booker T at 18 not that he was facing Booker but the reason was really dumb. Christian had a similar fate, facing another former WCW star and ex-stalker DDP for the European Title.

The Miz beat John Cena in the main event of Wrestlemania 27 and was in a 12-man tag at Wrestlemania 28 but before that, he was jobbing to Brodus Clay. Crazy stuff tbh

What about Flair? He won the Rumble and title, "headlines" WM8 in a major storyline and double main event, and by WM9 he's not even with the company anymore.
Flair honestly had a stark drop off in position from Fall of 91 to early 92, especially for a name of his stature. He didn't even compete at SummerSlam 92, and had already been the transitional champion for Bret by Survivor Series that year.

HHH from WM25 to WM26. WWE Title main event and then facing Sheamus in a regular match.
Tbh, this was a good thing since HHH was in every World Title match at WM from 2002-2009... that's WM18 til WM25. He missed WM23 due to injury, but he was also scheduled for the WWE Title match again, apparently.
HHH apparently wanted to face Sheamus since they are homies in real life.

Maybe I’m reading wrong, but the question is essentially “Who had a big match on a Wrestlemania and had a worse one at the next Wrestlemania?” So guys like Bam Bam and Flair don’t count.

Cesaro and his breakout performance in the Andre Battle Royal. Big ass moment, big ass trophy, turning on Swagger and Zeb, massive crowd support, Paul Heyman guy.
Next year: double duty on the preshow. First a 4-way for the penny tag belts, 12 people in all for the match. Him and Kidd retained, but still in a meaningless division. He then entered that Andre Battle Royal, to give his moment back to eventual winner Big Show.
Speaking of Show, throw up his appearance in the 25 WHC Triple Threat (tasteless angle, but a decent enough match) to an absolutely nothing tag title opening clash as Show-Miz. He was dominant and crucial to the win but so short, like why bother short.

Wyatt wrestling Cena & Taker at WM30 and WM31 but he doesn't even have a match at WM32.
At least he got a segment with Rock/Cena out of it. He was also meant to face Lesnar at WM32.
