So i recently was able to find the Stone Cold / Triple H Battlepack in store and for some reason the WWE Championship belt in the pack really caught my eye. im a huge belt nerd so ive been on the 'boutique' belt scene for a while and lot of the creators are opting to go with what i would consider a dull gold color but the details and the colors on the belts really pop. for ages, jakks just gave us those VAC plates with no painted details whatsoever. then they slowly started painting the globes on the belts. mattel came on the scene and gave us VAC belts but theirs also featured painted details right off the bat they looked so cool and scaled really well. then mattel introduced belts to the basic line and they were dull plates with no painted details. it seems like now mattel are adding paint details to the basic belts and i gotta say they look pretty sharp, that US title that was in the KO / AJ battlepack looked really good too. SO I ASK THE WFT COMMUNITY-----firstly what do you personally prefer but also what direction do we want to see mattel move in going forward? i really like the shine of the VAC belts but i find they are really lacking in those fine details - even with paint, everything just seems to be smoothed over. the dull belts with painted details seem to really just be more colorful and capture more detail BUT lack that sparkle of the actual gold plating. thoughts? The one's on the left are clearly better, but I bet they're a lot more expensive too.

For a poor like me, VAC belts are like gold i love the shine of the VAC but i just wish they could capture the detail of the dull versions

Neither really. Though prefer the dull ones as they are easier to paint for a better color. Honestly they could keep the molds of the titles just get rid of the pegs and glue the plates onto faux leather with some Velcro. The cost difference would be negligible. All these were converted but only the last corner big eagle isn't painted. Snug titles look way better than floating titles.

Dull for me. The world title that comes with the Legends Rey looks better to me than the super shiny VAC one.

I used to be all about the VAC belts, but I gotta say, some of the belts that Mattel have been putting out lately are pretty eye catching.
Not all of them.
The Tag belts need to be VAC. There's no excuses on that one. There's no detail to them to bother with painting, so the VAC belts are infinitely better than anything that isn't VAC.
But I remember the first time I saw the belt that came with, I think it was the RSC Undertaker-As-Kane figure. It was "dull" but the way that the details were so much crisper on it just blew me away. I thought to myself that if there was a way to reach a middle ground on that, to have a reasonable amount of metallic shine, but capture the level of detail as the dull belts, then yeah. They'd be so much better.
Some of these recent belts they've made are getting there. I didn't buy it (because it would have just been for the belt) but the US title with the KO/AJ 2-Pack is, as said, really impressive. It POPS. Same with the RSC one I have. The details really shine through, as opposed to the VAC belts which sort of seem like vaguely defined slabs of gold with minimal painted detail.
I mean, like I said, some belts need the shine to them. The Tag Belts have no details, they need to be VAC, nothing will ever be acceptable except the shiny versions. The IC belt needs to stay as the Elite version. Again, there's no real painted detail and the amount of detail they included on the Elite ones we have is perfect. Leave those as is. But if they can continue to perfect that middle ground on belts like the Big Eagle and US belts, then yeah. Go for it. It is a big improvement.

Dull for me. The world title that comes with the Legends Rey looks better to me than the super shiny VAC one. The dull winged eagle that comes with the showdown HBK/Bulldog, and the big eagle that comes with the showdown SCSA/trips look better than the vac versions. Could just be a new technique they are using. To me the vac titles lately have been way to yellow ish and less like gold.

Custom belts look so much better (especially with the correct WWF logos).
I think Mattel’s could be greatly improved if they put a little more curve in the center plate.

I came in to this thread intending to vote vac but looking at those comparisons, I voted for the other. I like how the details pop on them.

I prefer the ones that are all one single piece and painted like the hardcore belt and the first network logo WWE title that came with Money in the Bank Seth Rollins and I think Brock Lesnar. I know I’m in the minority, but they fit snug against the figure and it allows for some curving of the face plates because it’s not hard plastic.
It reminds me of the very first Jakks BCA belts that came in the 4-pack with Undertaker, Rocky Maivia, Owen, and Bulldog. The ‘97 belts. Those belts had molded plates that were painted and looked much nicer than the ‘98 Jakks belts that were flat with the face plate design painted on.
