So we have just finished the Wrestlemania reveals, we have 3 more months until the next big set of reveals at San Diego, and 7 months or so for Ringside Fest. So my thought is that we should take a realistic look at figures we need and should get revealed to us over the next year, which would release at this point in 2025. I am not talking about current wrestlers, as those can be make anytime, but mostly returning legends or versions of known currently signed wrestlers. We also have the factor of Vince no longer being a factor in anyway, along with the newer Nostalgia contracts that may be more beneficial towards these legend wrestlers.
Here are my realistic thoughts and somewhat educated guesses.
Early 90’s Steiners. This is a no brainer, and Steve has confirmed they are coming, they just need the right place. My suspicion is that theses will be the next Tag Team Ultimate exclusive coming from Ringside, and as such, would be revealed at Ringside Fest towards the end of the year.
Haku. With his son now firmly in WWE, much like Bron Breakker leading to the Steiners coming, I suspect that we will get Haku in our hands in 2025. King Haku, Haku’s later return (with the big hair) and as WCW Meng are all on the table and would be a good name to add to the MNW line.
Matt Hardy. His contract is up (or very soon to be up) with AEW and I hope he sees that the writing Is on the wall for his active career. He would be a good signing for WWE in a mentorship type role, and would also lend himself to finally getting some good vintage Matt Hardy figures - and hopefully the same for Jeff down the line. I suspect where Matt goes, Jeff will show up too.
Sting. His in-ring career is done, by his choice. He got to go out under his terms. He is also a smart businessman, and I have to think that he sees the writing on the wall and would like to keep his legacy going, and that is by signing a Legends deal with WWE. I haven’t heard of any animosity towards Vince, but he has always been protective of his legacy, and with Vince gone, his legacy would be used in a more careful way. WWE owns the majority of his body of work, specifically his iconic time as the face of WCW, and he is a big name that would be a boost to their top tier legends after losing Randy Savage. The boost to the MNW line cannot be overstated.
Ric Flair. See the same reasoning above for Sting and that would apply to Flair. His daughter is in a great place obviously with WWE, his son-in-law just returned, and I fully expect to see Naitch back with the WWE soon. All accounts are that his deal with AEW was short term and obviously he is on good terms with Triple H.
Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda. I think these are both no brainers, and in fact I think Rotunda never left the WWE fold. Their recent induction into the HOF along with their family relation to Bray Wyatt (rest in peace) will give us a few more versions of Barry Windham - he would fit in both the Legends line and the MNW line easily. The Widowmaker. The 4 Horsemen. The US Express (With Rotunda in the Legends line). The New Blackjacks (including a way to get another Bradshaw figure out there), and the West Texas Rednecks would all be no-brainers in my mind. For Rotunda we could easily see the US Express look in the Legends line with Barry Windham, and I would also love to see a Varsity Club look.
Brian Pillman. I had completely forgotten about this, but it was announced a bit back that the Estate had re-signed with the WWE, most likely when Lexis was signed. I am fully expecting a few Pillman's to be out in the various lines.
The Barbarian. This one is purely a shot in the dark guess by me. Enough time has passed since the dismissal of the CTE lawsuit, coupled with Vince McMahon no longer being there to hold any grudges, I could see this one being a cheap signing to the newer nostalgia contracts. Powers of Pain, along with singles looks, would be a big addition to the line.
If we get most of these announced over the next year, I will be very happy. I am sure there will be one or two more surprises along the way. Will we see Savage back soon? Maybe, but they may be giving the Savages a break, and will pick him back up after the Hulkamania 40th is done. Raven has been rumored, much like Sandman and the Dudley’s were. He would also be a fantastic signing.
Will we see some more ‘old school’ signings? The recent announcement of the Territory 4-pack was very well received and between that, and the success of Powertown’s first wave of Ultras, could hopefully prompt some more aggressive signings from the WWE.
I am hoping this prompts some good discussion, let me know what you think.
