Why was he okay with it though? Why did the audience get strung along for three consecutive nationally-televised shows acting like Seth would be his opponent? After two years of chasing the championship that eluded his father, why did Cody need over ten days to make his mind up? Was it intimidation, was it insecurity, or was it WWE Creative jerking around the crowd like they've had for 20 years?

Cody would have been spared the humble pie if he had gone onto Reigns at a later date, and not position himself a permanent third wheel while Roman Reigns gains his manufactured megaface run when he retires Dwayne. But the incongruity remains, unanswered and cast off as crazy talk.

May I also note to put anything Cody says into question. He spent 6¾ outta seven years rallying against how WWE was run to come back in an era effectively unchanged from when he left, and is on record saying polka dots weren't a rib on Dusty when everyone else under the sun admitted to them being a rib, and said his father's WWE run was a refreshing pressure-free experience which undercuts his whole "gotta win it for Dusty" narrative.
