Kinda interesting hearing WWE mentioning the Road Warriors promoting their tag title main event tonight. Not saying it means anything, but I guess it's a sign how things have changed since Vince is gone. I could just be seeing what I want to see but when I opened up the WWE section of peacock earlier today the Road Warriors were featured prominently on the thumbnail for one of the compilations they were pushing. Hopefully that means something for comic con

some of those guys were part of the concussion lawsuit weren’t they? maybe things will change under the new regime The concussion suit isn't a a barrier itself anymore. The case has been dead for years now, and we've since seen Mabel, Orndorff, Matt Osborne and Warlord end up under deals. That tells me the remaining names either still hold a grudge against WWE and aren't interested or WWE simply doesn't see value in signing them.

Interesting, I did not know that Barbarian had signed a legends deal at one point?! I do recall it been mentioned at the time that Warlord and Kamala (his second figure) were both allowed to be released because they were too far along in production so WWE allowed Mattel to release them. If a Barbarian figure was in the works then that means it was not far along and thus was able to be cancelled.
Even though I prefer his Powers of Pain look, I think Mattel could make an awesome singles run Barbarian figure- provided it included the fur pelt he wore and the antlers.

Both looks are cool, but as an 80’s specific collector, I’d prefer the Powers of Pain look.

Mattel can make anyone and everyone they want.
They just can't sell certain ones 😉

Maybe someone with expertise could answer… but what’s the deal with buff Bagwell? I remember something in regards to some controversy? I hope he signs a deal at some point.

Not sure if all of you know but Adam Bomb was signed just before that lawsuit.
His legends deal was evidence in the lawsuit, it was kind of cool because you could download and view peoples contracts and other evidence . I think he signed his legends contract for $10,000 maybe.

They likely never talent list has gotten a lot smaller over the years. Maybe I’ll get my Buff someday If we don't get a Buff in the MNW then we likely never will. Hard to tell the MNW story without him and I think he'd be so great to have! Such a big want for me as well! I can honestly see them making Buff a BAF in the MNW line at some point. Hell, they made Disciple, I can see them giving us Buff as well.

luckily i got demolition first time they were out. missed on road warriors though. would love to see them back. not having a mattel dynamite kid has stopped me from changing my jakks bulldog as i have them as a team and it looks silly with one as jakks and the other as mattel. buff bagwell is a massive want of mine. id take him as BAF all day long, even if i dont want/need the figures you need to buy to get him.

Bagwell came to WWE as part of the initial WCW "Invasion" storyline, he was even in the first WWE-sponsored "WCW Match" which I think aired on RAW? It was Buff Bagwell VS. Booker T as part of "Shane McMahon's WCW".... Apparently the match sucked, and Buff got into a backstage physical altercation with Shane Helms, and was promptly released from WWE due to "Attitude Problems" among other things (including the sloppy match with Booker). Buff's career pretty much spiraled downhill from there.... I don't think WWE/Buff have collaborated ever since, so I'd imagine it's a mutual "thanks, but no thanks" from both sides.

His legends deal was evidence in the lawsuit, it was kind of cool because you could download and view peoples contracts and other evidence . I think he signed his legends contract for $10,000 maybe. From what we know, and it's probably changed/updated these days - most of the "Normal" Legends Contracts (NOT bigger names/IP's like Hogan, Bret Hart, Andre The Giant) offer a $10,000 advance on merch. Which means, WWE basically writes them a check up front for $10,000. The talent then gets a percentage (from what I've been told, a very SMALL percentage) of all those merch sales. If/When those merch sales EXCEED that $10,000 advance (that they've already been paid), then the Legend starts getting additional royalties.... but the general complaint is that the percentage of sales is so small, they rarely see much (if anything) past that initial $10,000 check. Ted Dibiase once told me that the wrestlers don't make much off the wrestling figures. Jeff Jarrett told me something similar. Which is why many are hesitant to sign - because it basically allows WWE to profit of their name/likeness and all they really see is the inital $10,000. Smaller names, like a Hercules or a Bad News Brown - would probably NEVER exceed that $10,000 advance and would then never see a dime past $10,000. Maybe that's changed more recently.

Flair Forever I thought it was due to a show or job he had recently. I remember we got the Jakks Classics figure during the end of the Jakks era. It makes you wonder what could of been had Bagwell not gotten fired from WWE.

He was an escort at one point. Some people think that may have prevented him from getting a legends deal. WWE loves a good redemption story though and he seems to be getting clean and healthy through DDP Yoga. So maybe if he keeps it up then perhaps they will offer him a deal. Riggs has also turned him life around through DDPY so perhaps they both get signed.

I've heard the "new regime" hope and chatter for a good year when it comes to signing newer-old talent. When do we finally start to see that change, if it's coming? We didn't see any sign of it with the WrestleMania reveals, and yes, it was probably way to early for that. So is Comic Con the first real test? I know it could take a while, but when do you think we start to see the seeds of change sown if they're coming?

Punk is someone who may not have been signed with Vince in charge.

I guess I'm talking more of the LOD, Demolition, One Man Gang, Bundy, Martel, early squad figs that only saw one release and then concussion suit happened.

Can't sit well on either side.
