Hard static cut and we are live. The arena is mostly bare, minus a small stage that appears to have been repurposed from something and a single large banner in the background. The lighting is all the house lights and the guardrails are bare metal bike rack style guardrails. But the focus is the ring. And immediately we’re under way.
Stairway to Heaven begins to play through the speakers of the arena. POISON makes his way through the curtain, holding a chair that has “ASCEND” spray painted on it. POISON walks to the ring not acknowledging any of the fans asking for a high five. POISON slides the chair into the ring, and hops onto the apron. POISON slings himself into the ring, and rolls out to his feet.
Percy Jackson: Welcome ladies and gentlemen to WFWF Presents (?) See Through the Static. I am former WFWF Tag Team Champion Percy Jackson and I’ll be your sole commentator for the evening, because we’re running on a skeleton crew and no one else is available.
The lights in the building cut off. The haunting tones of Ciara’s cover of “Paint it Black” begin to ring through the building. The thumping beat brings the calm vocals. As the vocals begin, a single light bulb begins to flash on both sides of the stage. As the song reaches the end of the first bit, to the “I look inside my self and see my heart is black” line, Phillip Schneider emerges through the curtain. His face is painted in various shades of black, from a jet black to a metal black, almost resembling The Crow, the paint extending down his chest. Schneider walks down the aisle way in a slow, calculated speed. The song actually ends before he makes it to the ring. He finishes his trek to the ring in mostly darkness and silence. With both competitors in the ring, the bell sounds, officially starting this match.
Percy Jackson: Spooky entrance from Schneider but we’re under way.
POISON is looking for a lock up. Schneider simply stares him down. Schneider hasn’t left the corner he perched himself in since climbing into the ring. Schneider pulls himself up, reaching into his pocket and producing some sort of small, clear bottle. He takes a sip from it then makes a quick motion to his face, blowing a huge fireball in the direction of POISON. POISON backs off immediately.
Percy Jackson: This is why referees are supposed to check competitors before the mat starts, to make sure they don’t have combustables on them. Who knows what else Schneider has hidden on his person.
Schneider dumps the remains of whatever was in the bottle over his own head, causing the paint on his face to run and drip immediately. He now approaches center ring. Now unwilling for a lock up, POISON instead throws a huge forearm to start the match. Schneider is rocked, the juices and paint spraying from him as the forearm lands flush. Schneider shakes it off, approaching POISON and throwing a forearm of his own. POISON fires up. Big chop to Schneider. Schneider cuts him off with a boot to the gut.
Percy Jackson: Big time strike exchange but it’s cut off by Schneider.
Schneider grabs ahold of the mask. Referee warns of a disqualification if the mask is removed. Schneider loudly yells “IT’S NO DQ ASS HOLE” breaking his silence for the first time in the night. With the mask control, Schneider brings POISON to the ropes, throwing him through the ropes and to the floor. POISON lands on his feet on the floor, immediately grabbing his signature chair. As Schneider comes to the outside, POISON bashes Schneider over the head with the chair.
Percy Jackson: In a world where we’re more knowledgeable about brain injuries and CTE, I do not enjoy seeing my friend get hit in the head with a chair like that.
POISON now on offense. He sets the chair up in an open position. He tries to put Schneider in the chair. Schneider fights off of it, pushing POISON into the chair. Schneider turns around, quickly throwing up the ring apron and reemerging from under the ring with a bundle of light tubes. Schneider turns and throws the tubes directly at POISON’s face. POISON wisely dodges, the tubes connecting with and exploding over just the chair. POISON folds the chair up and swings it wildly, crashing it into Schneider’s unprotected skull. Shards of glass fly everywhere as the chair is swung, this one bringing Schneider to the ground.
Percy Jackson: Light tubes miss but that chair does not!
POISON lays his chair across Schneider. He hops to the ring apron. POISON looking for something off the ring apron. Schneider laying prone on the floor with the chair across him. POISON looks a little apprehensive, Schneider possibly too close to the ring apron for whatever he has in mind. He goes for it anyways. POISON runs down the apron and as he does so, Schneider produces another bundle of light tubes from under the ring. POISON is too late to put on the breaks, diving off the apron with a senton heading towards the chair, but also landing on a bundle of light tubes Schneider has added on top.
Percy Jackson: POISON caught all of his intended target on the senton, but also had a glass landing. And glass is officially in play now.
POISON stands up, his back shredded from the light tubes. Schneider grabs POISON’s chair and swings it with malice, smashing it over POISON’s head. POISON rolls into the ring, but not to get away from Schneider. He steps through the ropes, springboard to the middle rope and POISON sends himself flying to the floor, wiping out Phillip Schneider with an Asai moonsault.
Percy Jackson: Big time Asai moonsault and both men are down!
POISON now on the offense. He pulls Schneider back to his feet and rolls him into the ring. Schneider prone on the mat. POISON scales to the top rope. He flips over and goes for his top rope flipping leg drop, but Schneider rolls out of the way and POISON catches nothing but mat.
Percy Jackson: POISON looking for his signature POISON Bomb and if he would’ve hit it, this one may be over with, but Schneider able to get out of the way.
Schneider stalks after POISON. POISON slow to his feet. Schneider charges at him. He’s going for the Legitimate Japanese Businessman Kick, but POISON side steps it. Schneider misses the head but his leg goes over POISON’s shoulder. POISON uses the leverage to scoop Schneider, dumping him right on his head with a suplex.
Percy Jackson: A dodge on the Legitimate Japanese Businessman Kick and it looks like the tide is back in the favor of POISON.
POISON lines up on Schneider and drops a King Kong Knee drop. POISON down for the cover, referee makes the count, 1….2…. Schneider out at two, first by bringing a shoulder up, then by jamming a finger into the eye holes of the mask, raking the eyes of POISON.
Percy Jackson: Schneider fighting dirty, as usual.
Schneider rolls to the outside again. He flips the apron up nearest the entrance way. He pulls out a large plywood board, maybe four feet long by two feet wide. In the middle of the board is a lining of foam and sticking out of the foam are hundreds of glistening razor blades.
Percy Jackson: Oh boy..
Schneider slides the razor blade board into the ring. Camera gets a good view of the razor blades sticking out of the foam as Schneider throws two chairs into the ring. POISON gets control of one of the chairs and as Schneider reenters, POISON blasts him with a chair. POISON looks down at the razor blade board Schneider has brought into play. Shaking it off, he smashes Schneider with a chair again.
Percy Jackson: I don’t think POISON knows what to make of that bed of razor blades. It looks like something out of SAW.
POISON pulls Schneider to his feet. He hooks Schneider’s arms. Snapping double arm DDT from POISON drops Schneider on his head. POISON down for the cover, referee counts, 1….2… kick out from Schneider. POISON back to his feet. He grabs a chair again, but Schneider sweeps his legs, causing POISON to fall flat backwards and hit himself in the face with the chair.
Percy Jackson: The old Three Stooges gravity attack from Schneider.
Schneider repositions the chair over POISON’s face. With it in a good spot, he stomps the chair several times, driving the seat down in POISON’s face. Schneider grabs the chair off of POISON, taking it to his razor blade board. Unfolding the chair and setting it on the mat, he puts one side of the razor board on the chair seat. Schneider grabs a second chair. POISON nearly recovered so Schneider blasts him in the head with the chair, unfolds it, then stabs at POISON with the top of the chair for good measure.
Percy Jackson: I don’t know what he’s doing, but I don’t like it.
Schneider puts the other side of the razor board under the second chair. The razor board now has two legs. Schneider lifts the end of the razor board up and puts it on the bottom turnbuckle, effectively creating a razor table. Going back to POISON, Schneider lifts him up. POISON fires off a hard left, then a right. Boot to the gut, Tiger Driver 91!
Percy Jackson: As the description of the match said, Tiger Driver 91 from POISON!
POISON looks back at the razor board then shakes his head. He goes for a cover, 1….2…. Kick out at two from Schneider. POISON to his feet. He bails out of the ring, grabbing his painted chair from ringside. POISON back in. He’s going after Schneider, but the time he went to the outside was enough time for Schneider to produce skewers from somewhere. He jams the skewered into the top of POISON’s head. They go right through the mask and puncture into the scalp. Schneider gives them a few good fist bumps to make sure they’re stuck before letting go, turning POISON into a porcupine.
Percy Jackson: No matter how many times I see it, the skewer thing grosses me out.
Schneider grabs POISON’s signature chair. POISON walking around with skewers in his head. Schneider swings violently and wraps the chair over POISON’s head, further driving the skewers into the head. POISON goes down, throwing his painted chair to the outside.
Percy Jackson: This one is turning ugly but I think everyone kind of expected that out of a Phillip Schneider presents extravaganza.
Schneider pulls POISON towards the corner. Scooping POISON up under his armpits, Schneider puts POISON on the top rope. Schneider climbing the buckles himself. Schneider has his back towards the razors. He’s looking for a superplex into the razors. POISON struggling to get away. Shot from POISON. Hard left, a right. Schneider has lost his grip. A big forearm and Schneider falls from the ropes, falling backwards and crashing into the razor board. The board explodes and Schneider is INSTANTLY shredded to ribbons.
Percy Jackson: Schneider THROUGH the razor board!!
Schneider rolls to center ring, blood staining everything he touches as his back, legs, and back of his head drain vital fluids. POISON jumps over the wreckage and dives onto Schneider with a senton. POISON down for a cover on Schneider, referee down for the count, 1….2…. Kick out at two from Schneider.
Percy Jackson: He essentially pushed Schneider into a meat grinder and that isn’t enough for three. What will be??
Schneider has left a considerable blood stain on the mat but he’s to his feet. POISON nails him with a rolling elbow. Schneider is rocked. POISON comes charging in for a second rolling elbow. This one is ducked by Schneider. Schneider scoops POISON up in a torture rack position. He walks POISON across the ring. Schneider looks down at the broken razor blade board still in the corner, and then drops POISON onto it with a burning hammer. Unlike Schneider’s fall, there’s nothing to break POISON’s landing except the razors.
Percy Jackson: AHHHHHHHHH!!!
Schneider to his feet. He grabs POISON by a foot and drags him to the center ring, dragging him through the razors in the process. Schneider with a cover, 1….2….3. Bell sounds. Mercifully this one is over.
Nameless Ring Announcer: Your winner of this match, “The Prophet of Ash” Phillip Schneider!
Ciara’s cover of “Paint it Black” begins to play over the P/A system again. Schneider sits up. He’s soaked in blood, but he’s calling for the mic.
Percy Jackson: That’s it for me, I’ll sign off and let Schneider have his time on the mic.
Phillip Schneider: Cut the music, cut it, cut it.
Music cuts off.
Phillip Schneider: First of all, give it up for POISON, the only motherf**ker brave enough to take up my open challenge.
Crowd reluctantly cheers. POISON slow to recover, he’s gashed all over the same way as Schneider.
Phillip Schneider: I know you’re hurting right now, but get up, get up kid, get up. Stand up like a man.
POISON to his feet. Schneider extends a hand. POISON extremely reluctant to shake the hand of the man who just dropped him on his head on razor blades, but finally does so and there’s no funny business. Not waiting for Schneider to turn on him, POISON bails out of the ring.
Phillip Schneider: Look ya’ll, that’s it for me. That was it. That’s actually my final match.
Crowd is a little stunned. Schneider grabs one of the slightly mangled chairs and bends it so it’s a mostly functional chair again, taking a seat in the ring.
Phillip Schneider: When I went away, I didn’t want to.. I had to. I didn’t want to leave everything.. And when I came back at Scars and Stripes.. It was to finish on my terms, but, well…. We all know how that turned out. This ain’t ideal. I wanted a big story. I wanted an undercard. I wanted more than three f**king working light bulbs on the entrance way and I tried so hard to pull this off. Maybe the WFWF’s time is gone. For sure though, my time is gone. But I ain’t got it any more, I ain’t got the time to dedicate to this any more, I ain’t got the time to recover from what a match like this takes out of me.. I’m not a kid any more. I’m passing the torch. That’s your hardcore hero now, POISON is the King of Gore now. I’m done. Thank you all for coming. There’s milk and cookies in the lobby. I love you all.
Ciara’s cover of “Paint it Black” begins to play again, Schneider taking a bow and exits the ring a gory mess. Before he can make it to the back, we hard cut to static and fade out.
Stairway to Heaven begins to play through the speakers of the arena. POISON makes his way through the curtain, holding a chair that has “ASCEND” spray painted on it.
