My two main takeaways from this year’s SDCC. One: Late Stage Capitalism is hitting Mattel and WWE because there were significantly fewer ideas for new products this year than other SDCCs Two: Vince’s refusal to meaningfully protect his mid card talent and outright pushing back against making more new stars in the last 20 years is impacting the talent pool of people that will sell figures. I understand that a lot of people who might sell figures aren’t available, but a ton of said names were from other generations and this the problem is directly exacerbated by the lack of new stars from the last 20 years. Yes, they made some, but not as many as the 90s and 80s. THIS point #2!!! My best buddy and I, who both have been watching wrestling for the last 35 years (both mid-40s now) have been railing against Vince's inability/apathy to create and push anyone for the main event outside of Brock and Roman from 2015-2020. So if he was so apathetic to his main event scene, of course it trickled down to his midcard. Granted he lucked into a few guys (The Yes movt, Kofimania, Bex), but overall, it was just those 2 guys. Most were just built up just to eat a pin from Roman and Brock. Bottom line, nice job to tie in how Vince's overlooks for his midcard trickled down to Mattel and their inability to create a good talent pool! *side note, Paul is doing a pretty good job of making new stars. Takes some time and he's far from perfect, but he is doing a rather good job so far! Hat's off to ya, really good point!

kind of disappointed at no Unholy Union, Ivy Nile, Elektra, or Lyra figures and no updates on Michin, Tegan, or Scarlett

Anybody catch when Bladerunner sting is going up for preorder It’s listed as rare, so I don’t think there will be a preorder. Not sure about the 3 pack.

I guess you could say Great Khali.

I guess you could say Great Khali. They did the same with all of Waltman’s gimmicks and Steven Regal. Other examples as well. I think Mr America was FTITL. I personally don’t consider the same person portraying multiple gimmicks as all being FITIL but Mattel seems to.

I was just curious because ringside posted it saying available soon on their site. Its possible they'll pick some up and list them for a markup or something

Its possible they'll pick some up and list them for a markup or something I feel like when they first showed a picture of Bladerunner Sting, it was with other wrestlers that implied it would be a part of a regular wave. Maybe I misinterpreted, but if not, it seems like the plan changed to him being a chase.

Sorry if this has already been asked…but why does the UE Punk have a red X on his left hand, but a black one on his right? Looking back at that match they’re both black.

Its disconcerting that there were literally ZERO new Legends shown...as in, new signings not new gimmicks.
I mean technically Pillman counts because he's "back". BUT he had a few figures already. New gimmicks don't count (Golga, Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw, Billy as Smoking Gunn, etc) because those are the same people just different styles
I am overall happy with what was shown, a lot of cool stuff I'm looking forward to getting in the coming year. But I really would like to continue filling more holes in my collection.
Stuff like.... We really need a new JBL, in the Elite OR Ultimate line...the first elite was so skinny and had a pretty terrible head, the 2nd one was improved but a 1-off costume that's kind of silly. Monday Night wars doesn't need a Greatest Hits, that could have been used on other talent or NEW looks for the superstars in that set. Why are we getting another Hurricane instead of a cool Gregory Helms from his singles run or hell even Sugar Shane from WCW? Why are we still not getting Ultimate Warrior in his neon green trunks and a winged eagle which is truly one of his most iconic looks? I love that Syco Sid is coming, but why not put him as the Chase, with a 2nd head so we could also get Sid Justice? Bam Bam from Wrestlemania 11 is probably his most notable match/look, and yet we're getting a worthless re-release of the ECW Legends figure
Just a couple of examples

Yes, they made some, but not as many as the 90s and 80s. 100% Agree. Upper Mid-Card Guys like Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase, and Big Boss Man never held any meaningful titles in WWF. But people remember them 30-40 years later. They resonate. They were memorable. Is this really Vince's fault, though? First - these were huge oversized characters that don't work as well today. As I write that, I think of gimmicks like Cryme Tyme that would still be memorable -- but they are definitely rarer. And today those wouldn't work as well. Two -- as people said, there was a lot less content. So combined with more prominence, and those BIG colorful characters, you see why they stand out more. But if you put those big colorful characters out today, people would complain. Timeless Toni Storm is incredible -- but i don't think she'd leave the same impression as a Brutus Beefcake, Jake the Snake, or Million Dollar Man. Three -- these guys weren't really booked well. You never took them seriously as winning the main event -- they lost often -- but you still *loved* them. So I don't know we need to blame the booking...

Billy Gunn & Great Muta are in legends 25 or 26? Who else is in the set with them? I thought Billy Gunn was the last figure in Legends 25 and Muta was the first figure shown for 26. Isn't Billy in the set with Kurt Angle, Carlito, and Godfather?

So due to life stuff I can’t really drop a lot on preorders right now, but I couldn’t resist the RSC Ultimate Punk.

Some of these more modern guys have been employed in the company for 1-2 decades and left less of an impression than 80-90s workers who only had a few years. I always think of the comparison between nattie and her father. Jim’s original HF run was about 7 years, he wasn’t even a main eventer but there’s still more to talk about in his career than Nattie’s almost 20 year wwe career.
