Hello fellow collectors, after posting pics of my LJN collection, and seeing others post theirs, including the LJN Bendies line, it planted a collector “bug” in me to complete that collection as well. I already had about half of the different wrestlers produced, from my childhood, and was quickly able to snag loose, good conditioned Macho, Steamboat, Steele, Ventura and Andre. Now I am just missing Beefcake, Kirchner, Albano and Heenan. I don’t feel a need to get any variants, just one of each. But I’m also not looking to spend a whole lot as this is really a side collection for me. So far I’ve been spending $10-20 per figure. I’ve heard from a fellow collector on here that Heenan is more rare and costly (I’m seeing him available for $80-100, which feels too high to me for a small loose bendie). What would you think are reasonable prices for my remaining pieces? A problem I am finding is that they are often lumped in Lots on the Bay, with some I want and others I don’t. One seller was able to split them and work with me, but others won’t (of course). This isn’t a collection I have been exploring until recently, so any guidance would be appreciated!

Best shot is buying a lot and selling the ones you don't need...

Heenan is definitely valuable, so a fair price is what you're comfortable with and able to pay while it's being offered. Aside from that, if the current going rate is $80-100, then $80 seems like a good buy and anything lower than that seems like a good deal!

I would rather pay that for the next Coliseum Collection set, personally.

I am in the same boat. I had a few of these as a kid but didn't keep them, and then a couple of years ago I came across a loose lot in near perfect condition at a steal of a price, so I grabbed them. I've been filling in the figures one at a time since then and also trying not to pay a lot. I think the most I've spent was $20 for Andre, but most were in the range of $10-15 (aside from that original lot, which were about $5 each).
I am down to only needing Savage, Beefcake, Albano, and Heenan. I've seen Albano for decent prices (under $20) but usually they have some scuffs or paint loss, so I haven't pulled the trigger on one. Beefcake doesn't pop up as often and many I've seen are in poor condition, so getting one in nice condition will likely run more. I was able to find Kirchner bundled with Orndorff (who I also needed) in a lot for $20 and both were near mint, so I lucked out on that. Kirchner on his own often does go for more.
Heenan is for sure the hardest to find and most expensive. I am in no rush to complete my set and content to keep looking and snag them if they ever show up at the right price. For me, that's part of the fun of collecting. But yes, you're at the point where the ones you are missing are harder to find and higher priced. Good luck!

Just grabbed Kirchner for about $20 after shipping. I’m good with that price. Still don’t really want to go above that. But who knows, maybe if I’m down to only one left I’ll be willing to spend a bit more to complete the collection. I definitely want at least Beefcake to complete the wrestlers in the collection. Finding one in good shape is proving hard though. Oh well, patience will help.

Finding one in good shape is proving hard though. Oh well, patience will help. Heenan and Beefcake were always in the more valuable bunch of those, going back even 25 years ago when I was in my heyday. Not to the levels they are now, of course, but still more than most others. If you're in no rush the best bet, like someone said, is to bide your time and wait for a larger lot to come around with a Heenan in it, and then resell the rest. It'll take some time and effort, but you can most likely recoup most of your money and perhaps even end up with a free Heenan by the end of it...or you might even make some profit. I rebuilt an LJN collection when my kid was born so we could play with them together, and I did it that way. I tracked my purchases, resales, trades, and I think I have all but 10-12 figures to go (most but not all of the valuables ones, and a couple commons) with a total spend of nearly $0. It's a fun way to look at it and keep it fun.

Surprisingly, after saving searches for them on the Bay, I came across a good condition used Beefcake for just $10 with free shipping! I ordered right away, of course, too good a deal to pass up! Once I receive it, I’ll post a pick of my set-up. I’ll have one of each wrestler (no variants), and still missing Albano and Heenan. But I’ll be pretty maxed on my current display setup, so may leave it as is with at least having all of the wrestlers!

Take the savings and add it to the Heenan fund so you don't feel bad spending more than you'd normally anticipate .

Couldn’t have been up more than a couple hours before I snagged it!

I'll keep my eye open glad you got back to finishing this collection. I'm finishing getting some newer stuff then I'll go back to LJN finish that. One piece I didn't collect yet are the LJN thumb wrestlers. I had some of them growing up but sold them or lost them years and years ago nothing too rare though.

I had some of them, but they were never too appealing to me, even as a kid. So without the personal nostalgia connection, I think I’ll pass on that collection.

My “complete” collection- every wrestler, in good enough shape. Half were mine from childhood, the other half bought online past month or so. Missing variants, Albano and Heenan. But this case is pretty much capped, and I think looks good enough as is! ibb.co/gzR9GBB

My collection came from the 80's when Target had them all clearanced off for 75 cents. I bought them all and they became my "go-to" wrestling toys to play with since they were a better size for playing.
