Toy collectors are funny. I hope they remake every possible figure they can that’s over 5 years old.

Im a relatively new collector, only three ish years at this point, so the only real grail pieces I have are the rockers and the road warriors but I have zero issue with older figures getting rereleased. In fact I hope Mattel eventually rereleases and improves upon the exact versions of those teams I already have, I like the modern articulation and improved paint application. .
Is it going to sting a bit when people can get better road warriors than mine for a fraction of the price? Sure but I kind of knew that was going to happen at some point. I didn't buy them expecting them to hold value or to flip them for profit down the line, I bought them cause my collection needed those tag teams

The value is still the same for me. I look at my collection and it still brings back memories of watching wrestling with my father which puts a smile on my face. It used to be any wrestlers figures from the mid 70’s up to March ‘90 would do that. But now even the more modern wrestlers in my collection who I never got to watch with my father still make me think of fond memories of watching wrestling with him. So yeah the real value is still there to me.

I don't buy these things expecting them to be like Apple stock investments... if anything this hobby is putting me into the poor house more than anything else. But, I suppose if you are worried about these things "holding value"..... Get 'em signed, boys..... get 'em signed while you can. Catch is, I could never sell these.

With re-releases pretty much killing any value we had in our collections I was wondering which figures are left that are likely to retain value going forward. The likes of Demolition, LOD, Wolfpac Sting and more are still costly but I think the following are all that is left that will continue to hold value the longer the line continues. I do believe the New gen ultimates and Eric Bischoff will join this list but not including unrealesed figures I was looking at my collection and could only list these guys. Akeem Bundy Snuka Kerry Von Erich Kevin Von Erich Texas Tornado Rick Martel Road Warriors I hope they are never re-released, I could care less for others not having them (you missed out) it's what makes them special to me the fact they are sought after! Do fellow collectors feel there are any other figures safe from re-release that will retain that special feel of owning a figure? If you have those 8 figures available for sale, you will have an 8 figure bank account.

I bought Akeem, Texas Tornado, Rick Martel, Road Warriors, LOD, and others when they came out, because I wanted them in my collection, not because they may become sought after later. None of these are impervious to being re-released, and that's good for everyone.

This is potentially the single most rancid take I've seen on here in quite a bit. Wow. I hope someday you find peace with yourself and joy in life that doesn't involve the collection of capital.

Someone else has every figure you have. Someone else found them before you, got a better deal on them, maybe had a connection or got them signed, any number of things.

The "you missed out" quote is such a scummy way to gatekeep something. These are action figures not stocks. The originals will always hold more value than new releases that's been a true statement for all collectibles but to say you don't want these remade because your toys will go down in price is such a terrible way to see the hobby. I hope every figure gets a remake and everyone that's new to the hobby or missed out on certain figures gets everything they want without having to spend a car payment to get it

Who cares what they're worth or if value drops I hope everything from 2010-2015 gets rereleases that way it's better figures with completely updated deco/parts compared to something that's 14 years old with paint that just rubs off and feels like it's going to break just by moving it i mean that's just my take on the whole situation and that's coming from someone who owns every single original release from day one
But like flair forever said if you are so worried about value go get them signed by everyone still around that's able to sign them cause that's the only way the value is gonna remain and even that's not guaranteed to hold

Modern toy lines will not retain any of their value regardless because there's no kids now that will be nostalgic for this stuff in 20 years like we are.

I honestly couldn’t disagree more. I bought every Legends figure when they were new, and I hope they re-release every single one of them. TrueFX and double-jointed pinless elbows at retail price? Bring it on for the collectors!
I can’t imagine my enjoyment of a figure being based on whether or not someone else also owns it.

If you plan to retire on your figures, you need to do it today. Tomorrow it will be too late. Time on the pegs > timing on the pegs. This is not fignancial advice. I like the figs.

Do fellow collectors feel there are any other figures safe from re-release that will retain that special feel of owning a figure? If you died tomorrow what would your family do with the collection? Its gonna get tossed or sold for a fraction of what you paid. If you decided to sell the collection tomorrow how much do you really think you will profit and what would you spend the money on? Once its spent its spent regardless. Modern day toys have no long term value because of production numbers and high retail costs. Even the exclusives and short run figures that hold this “grail value” balances out all the devalued figures we have. Bottom line, just have fun collecting and focus less on “values”
