This is a perfect answer. The value is what you make it, not what the secondary market makes it. Figures that bring back fond memories are priceless as far as I'm concerned.

If you want wrestling figures with value go collect MOC Hasbros or hell if you want something modern it looks like the Big Rubber Guys are already gaining traction.

This is it. Having collected for x number of years i can agree with all that. There are very few toy collections that will retain their value. The ones that do contain very limited pieces and very few lines are made in small quantities these days (unlike modern basketball card parralels).

Lets take a look at all modern toy lines (late 90s-now) (not counting mini figures or 12" dolls). Value is based on sealed/mint prices

Pick one of the 100s of manufacturers and look at prices. (Hint unless you have some of the exceptions the majority of the lines made by these companies are WORTHLESS)

Hasbro

-Star wars - potf/potj/sote/ep1-ep3
Few pieces worth anything (double value at best) personally dont see 2digits = worth value. Some mid 2000 legend multipacks and exclusives but star wars suffers from fatigue (too much for too long), this line needed to die to retain value, vintage collection is different however...

80s rereleases (obviously being mass produced on purpose to give people the chance to own near originals with or without added points of articulation)., some exceptions will exist in the future (dinosaucers/dinoriders if they ever get re-released)

I believe the whole grading scam system will implode one day so for anyone who argues that you can take any figure boxed or not, grade it and you have instant value ---> you have to realize that only 1-2% of modern day toys get graded and ever will so it is a fake way of creating scarcity. 90% of all collections are private so the actual amount of any figure is not known for many years. There are still thousands of every figure out there just waiting to be sold by estate sale finders. This idea that they are 1/1 graded 10 is all a bunch of bs (speaking of modern day toy lines only)

So yeah open these up. If you want to invest there is the stock market. You were sadly influenced by all the toy collector tv programs in the early 2000 who thought modern day toys would be worth the same as vintage toy lines. Sadly many people have lost tens of thousands this way. The same will happen to the new modern day basketball/pokemon card industry. When the high rollers stop buying the whole house of cards will come tumbling down.

These wwe figures with few exceptions (yes everyone wants the yellow vested akeem/lod/etc ) are WORTHLESS AND MADE TO BE PLAYED/POSED with. If u are reading this: dont believe these youtube influencers (they are just trying to hype people up, they are only thinking short term). For something to be worth money someone has to be interested in it in the future. How many 6 million dollar man collectors will there be in 20 years. It is the same reason people dont collect marbles anymore. Interests change and now adays if it isnt an app or a game on their phone = no interest.

Even the rarest figure doesn't have "value" unless you sell it. Until you do sell it, it has negative "value." Moneywise, of course.

They are little plastic renderings of muscular men in basically underwear and boots (and sometimes not even that) if you want to play stockbroker, play the stockmarket...not buy toys...as someone who has collected this line for nearly 15 years...I say "BRING ON THE RERELEASES!" I don't give a .

While I have bought for value, it's not a priority.

For example, I have a couple of RSC Wolfpac Stings but if he were to be made again I would happily buy two
