Sup guys. Just finished watching both nights the other day and wanted to give my thoughts being a relatively new fan of ROH...
- First thing I'd like to mention, and the main reason for posting this, is the Albright/Evans match. If there was one "WTF?!?" moment on either Nights 1 or 2, the ending to this match would have to be it. Now besides the fact that I think the big man/small man dynamic is absent in ROH matches at times, I feel this was a disgusting match ending in a promotion that prides itself on the use of psychology. You got a guy twice his opponents size wrenching back on his arm for a good period of time, and he doesn't submit. That's forgivable... but I nearly shat a brick when Evans popped up, arm perfectly fine, and executed his 630 for a win three seconds later. This match made Albright look EXTREMELY weak, and soured any liking I had for Jack Evans. His promos didn't help either.
- I find Erick Stevens overrated. He is a good brawler-type but he comes off looking like a poser with the mohawk and biker get-up.
- Davey Richards is one of the guys I came out of these shows a huge fan of. I remember back when Richards was the big thing on these boards and although I didn't know who he was, I now know what the hype was about. The guy is an incredible wrestler... psychology, hard impact moves, an insane tombstone piledriver I marked like a school girl for. The guy reminds me of a younger heel Benoit with a bit of Dean Malenko mixed in. His mic skills need work, but he has a heel vibe that I feel supercedes most other guys on the ROH roster. Definitely World title worthy, at least after the stable wars end.
- I've been a fan of Claudio ever since Respect is Earned, and he continues to impress. Another man fit to wear the ROH World title belt, imo. His match with Generico was great... Generico would make a great main eventer, but I don't think he's championship material.
- Another guy I came out of this wanting to see more of is Kevin Steen. Steen has a different kind of charisma that I enjoy watching... I lmao'd when he was counting the guys he took out with that dive during the six man mayhem. Not to mention I love his moveset... the package piledriver is so badass. Steen NEEDS to be ROH Champion at some point.
- Chris Hero's ring entrance is awesome... with Toland and Dempsey doing squats on either side. It's just a kickass visual. Sweeney is a god of wrestling managers. SnS segments are gold too... that guy really lookd like a thin Bobby Dempsey! LMAO at Toland, "Oh, I'm something to behold..." I think Chris Hero would make the perfect showboating heel Champion that to my knowledge, hasn't occured yet in ROH.
