I think now would have been the perfect time to bring in a new model to represent the NWA Championship. It would have been sweet having that tournament for a nice new belt. You know..new era = new belt. IMHO, the NWA Title is pretty damn ugly. I understand tradition and all, but it's not like this particular belt has represented the title since the beginning. Here's a great picture I found in Just Joe's sig, although everyone should know what the belt looks like...

Yeah, you can talk about prestige but currently the most prestiged belt in wrestling is blinged out and spinning, I think it's okay to have abit of change.

I have actually always liked the NWA title... I think it would be... stupid to change it. I mean, what would be the point? What would they have to gain by changing the look of the belt?

I like the belt. It looks pretty much the same as when Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, and Ric Flair wore the belt.

I love that belt. I wouldn't change it at all.

nothing would be gained from changing it so it seems unnecessary

Honestly..call me crazy but I think it wouldn't be such a bad idea to just get rid of it. It's kind of sad to see it now-a-days. I mean..now that it's out of TNA, it's lost a lot of prestige. Very soon it'll be like it was in the late nineties.
I think they should get rid of it before it devalues the great reigns of Dusty, Flair, etc.

the ONLY thing I don't like about it is the strap is like, huge. I don't know if anybody has ever notied it, but with other titles, the strap's shape goes from bigger (around the center plate) to smaller (around the side plates) but the NWA title's strap is the size of the center piece, it's always bugged me.

Even though I love that belt, I wouldn't mind seeing a new version. didn't the true NWA end in the 80s so idc really if got a new look or not. Sort of. Sometime before then NWA folded (I'm not sure of the exact time line here) they brought in the 'big gold' title to replace the NWA world title that's being used today. When the NWA went under, it became the WCW world title until Ric Flair went to the WWF with the title in '91 or '92. Flair owned the belt at the time so there was nothing they could do about and, and Vince didn't really have to blur the belt on TV. That was just a gimmick. Anyway... when Flair returned to WCW, the belt was defended in WCW and NJPW (more so in New Japan) as the NWA world title. That was idea eventually dropped and the title became the WCW International title for a very short period of time. Then it once again became the WCW world title until WCW was purchased by Vince McMahon. I'm sure you guys know the rest of the story. That might not be 100% percent correct -- I was very young while all this was going on -- but if it isn't, then it's very close.

Didn't Jeff have the NWA title during the short lived NWA invasion angle in WWF around the time of 1998 royal rumble.

I've never been a fan of the belt, as I think it looks ugly. But its one of the few long lasting traditions in wrestling. For that I'd keep it
