I have watched everything up til the final match. I didnt have time to finish it last night. And all I can say is.....wow! What action.....what drama......what a story.
Lets start with the story. Ian did a fantastic job in building drama and story with Mike Quackenbush's absolutely sick landing on his head. If anyone has not seen this......definitely pickup this dvd. This is an extremely sick spot. I thought Quack was done for sure and I already knew he won the damn tournament.
But this tournament wasnt all Mike Quackenbush. In fact, a few guys put on a great show and really showed off their talents. Lets start with Josh Abercrombie. Here was a guy thats been a staple of IWA and its lightweight division for quite some time now. He really showed his stuff at TPI. His opening round matchup against Richochet showed he was more than a mustache. He has an interesting gimmick and is finally getting his just due in my opinion.
Then there was the up and coming Devon Moore. This is a guy I have been high on since his early days of PWU. He is a pure DAREDEVIL! If you like that kind of style or if you like a guy who can adapt to different styles......check out Devon Moore. This guy can seriously go. An opening round matchup against hardcore Dysfunction and a second round match with Josh Abercrombie.......really showed his stuff. He is gonna explode in IWA.....mark my words.
Then there was possibly the match of night 1......Claudio vs. Nigel. WOW! What a fantastic match. A true matchup of European influence. Uppercuts, suplexes and Nigel's devestating clothesline and lets not forget a Ricola Bomb! These 2 really took it to one another and put on a wrestling clinic and with some strong style shots. So worth the price on this dvd.
Hero and 2 Cold I was really dissapointed in. I think they did a great job of telling a story......but the wrestling was lackluster at best. Hero played the perfect Hero and 2 Cold the babyface. But they lacked some chemistry. I was really excited for this match and it fell short.
Chuckie T and Jimmy Jacobs put on a damn decent first round match. Taylor bloodied Jacobs badly. Jacobs tried to play the babyface, but was met with a lot of ROH heel heat.
In night 2.....Moore/Abercrombie was a great opener. Abercrombie takes the next step to being a main player.......Moore takes the next step as the future. Fantastic finish as well.
Joey Ryan and Quack was a fun match until the nasty sick bump Quack takes on his head. Must see to believe.
Quack does a great job of building drama, along with Ian, for his semi final match against Abercrombie. Throughout the whole match, Quack sells the drama and anticipation for a finals that would feature Taylor and Claudio with all the gold on the line.
Anyone who has seen TPI 2007....feel free to chime in. Would love to get your thoughts. Just dont ruin the finals for me. Will watch tonight. LOL!!
