HAHAHAHAHA. The same way the other match ended. Takayama's return? If so, you're mistaken. That match ended with a normal Emerald Frosion.

No, it didn't. It ended with an exploder. What I meant was that the "same thing" happened with the returning guy jobbing.

I'm a little surprised to hear Kobashi lost. I would have thought he would have pinned Misawa which would set up the title match in 08.

I don't think this is too unusual.
Kobashi got to celebrate his return to the ring, but Misawa cut short the celebration. This leads to a rekindling of the Kobashi/Misawa wars and, in a perfect world, puts Kobashi on the comeback trail that ends with one more Kobashi/Misawa match, maybe at the Tokyo Dome, that sees Kobashi win back the GHC.
That, I would love.
Aside from the match length and result, does anyone know if Kobashi looked good?

It's said Kobashi looked good for someone who hasn't wrestled in a year and a half, and that it was an awesome match.

My favorite picture from the match: This was also NOAH's largest crowd for the Budokan. 17,000 strong.

Just watched the match. VERY solid. All guys brought their A-Game. Let me tell you, both teams work great together. Takayama and Kobashi should be a permanent team. Akiyama and Misawa as well. They all work great. Kobashi seems to not have lost a beat.

The match was much better than I expected. The crowd seemed generally disappointed when Misawa pinned Kobashi.

The crowd was also exited every time Kobashi was tagged in, hahaha.

I'm a little surprised to hear Kobashi lost. I would have thought he would have pinned Misawa which would set up the title match in 08. That's not really how Japan works, to be honest. Japan, at least NOAH at this poiint anyway, present wrestling as a realistic sport. You think about it, Kobashi's been gone for over a year now, does it make sense that he'd come back and beat their World Champion? I actually like it. I think they should slow build the match, with Kobashi getting a few wins, then jobs for Misawa in a tag. Few more wins, jobs in tag. Few more wins, etc.. until say, four-six months down the line they do a tag and Kobashi goes over Misawa, run the big marquee match and Kobashi goes over for the GHC. Though more likely than not he'll get it sometime real early next year.

IMO, if Kobashi/Akiyama could main-event a Tokyo Dome show, the first one-on-one Misawa/Kobashi match in five years (taking into account that their last singles match against each other was in '03 and Misawa/Kobashi would build up for months, leading us into '08) could do so as well, especially considering that, like Misawa/Kawada at Destiny, it's one of those matches where you thought it wouldn't happen again.

It took both NJPW and AJPW to *barely* fill the Dome this year with a main event of Chono and Muto vs. Tenzan and Kojima, and a HUGE interpromotional card. What makes you think NOAH can do it on their own next year?

Well if you think about it, NJPW has always sold out the Dome before because they gave out a huge amount of free tickets. And in the past couple years, free tickets haven't been given out.

NOAH does try to be more realistic, but it's impossible in wrestling for everything to be completely logical.
