You are name dropping people you travel with and personally know, to get yourself over as someone who is more than just a regulat wrestling fan. Alot of people on this board know alot of indy guys personally and have traveled/trained with them, but you don't see all of them going around, breaking kayfabe, saying how good of friends we are with them. You aren't anymore informed than anyone else on here, and even if you are, it doesn't mean you have to break kayfabe and claim to be "in the know," to attempt to get yourself over as more than a wrestling fan. so, yes, you are a part of the "Name Drop Express." I already learned my lesson about going around telling people who you know in the business, you know what that does? Makes you come off as someone who wants everyone to know that you are something more than just another wrestling fan/mark. Put it this way, your basically putting yourself over by acting like you know everythig about these guys, and your breaking kayfabe in the process. It's like your cutting a CM Punk promo, it's like you''re saying.... "I dunno if you guys know or not...but i'm a big deal." Haha. |

I know for a fact that he has traveled with those guys before. I am sure Page does know the reason or part of the reason. I have seen Page ref all 3 of those guy's matches for the last few years whether it be in MPW, IWA, NIW and other promotions here in the midwest. I don't see him at all putting himself over on here. The guy happens to be a friend with the NSE and Cannon. Give the guy a break and stop being a jerk. |

yeah christ big deal if he knows wrestlers and stuff. he's not breaking kayfabe or anything, breaking kayfabe would be like taking a pic with OMG without his mask on. i think its pretty sweet some people hang out with wrestlers and stuff. one chick i know like has sleepovers with sexy chucky t, she lets me know what wrestlers toke the smoke. sadly chuck doesnt

I was not trying to make a big deal about it at all. I was just trying to help from anyone spreading crapabout my friends. Im sorry if I dont want to put my self over, like others. Yes, I have refereed all three of their matches on many of occasions. it is a sad state of affairs when a friend cant watch out for his friends, even on a message board. thank you Cannon.

I think the IWA board having a filter where instead of saying "Danny Daniels" it says "the man with no name" might beg to differ.
Overall, I think Ian has no problems with some of the boys in the end. If they can draw, like Tyler, he'll bring them back. It's Daniels that it seems to be the villain in things. But then again, I'm just a fan and not even knowledgable about Danny Daniels so I could be dead wrong.

DD is decent, him and tyler killed eachother in AAW tonight. I wish daniels would get himself in a little better shape, but eh.
i think ian would be the type of guy that would be great to have on your side of a battle but he'd be a ruthless enemy.

I was saying, alot of people on here are in the business, but this is a board for fans, not workers to cut promos about their accomplishments, i never called him a liar, i said this wasn't the place to say, what he said. You are the one spreading rumors by saying, what you said, and breaking kayfabe.

fair enough. I'm just trying to include my two cents in this conversation. thats all. I wasn't breaking kayfabe, as I am an associate of them & didnt say anything outside of the financial issue that was brought up earlier.

OK, in the interest of full disclosure here, trace back in the thread, go back to any comment in the thread before what I have quoted above where Rob specifically states the words "I know Arik Cannon and the NSE." You won't find it, instead you will find statements that have truth to them while at the same time being careful not to draw attention or "put himself over" as there are many on boards all over who are wont to do just that. The only mention he made of having any contact with them was AFTER he was called out on it, so don't pull the bulls--t screaming about it when you are the ones who demanded sources. I know it defeats the purpose of your entire argument, but there is a big difference between coming on to a board and blustering about "I know this guy or that guy" or "I work for so and so, therefore my opinion is more valid then yours" as opposed to simply stating facts to be known without blowing it up everyone's a$$. He even tried to defuse the argument but was continuously railed at. For the record, I do not know Arik Cannon, Ryan Cruz, Darin Corbin or Rob Page personally. I do happen to know that Cannon has started a promotion of sorts based out of Minneapolis called First Wrestling. Cruz, Corbin and Page happen to work for said promotion plus whatever various bookings they take on as well. I'm sure it's probably a little more financially solvent (for the three wrestlers anyway) to take a booking a little closer to what is considered a home base of sorts. If CHIKARA is making it worth their while, bless them for stepping up. If what the three make in IWA is negated by what they can make by staying in the midwest, that's certainly their choice. IWA has survived long before they got there and and can certainly do so after they are gone. |
