I broke this news a few months back that Chikara was heading to the New England area. Now its official! New England.....here is your chance to catch the coolest fed in North America. Chikara is red hot and has a collection of the best indepedent talent in America today.
Everyone loves a good summer roadtrip, even a merry band of luchadore americanos likeus here at CHIKARA. Luckily, our line of work allows CHIKARA stars to travel all across the globe in search of the best competition, but rarely do we get to do it as a company. Next month, that will all change, as we pack our bags and leave the confines of Pennsylvania for the first time in nearly THREE YEARS. We're going to be rolling into the town of Wallingford, CT for a show we're calling "Showdown in Crisisland" and we're not coming with anything less than the full CHIKARA experience. During the build to YLC V, we've quietly been signing and announcing matches for the show over at CHIKARAPRO.com - so if you don't check the mothership, you've been missing out. But you're about to get caught up real fast as we announce FOUR, count 'em, FOUR big time matches already signed for the Showdown!
First up on the docket is the show's most recently signed contest, which stems from an ugly incident that occurred during Night Three of YLC V. In the aftermath of the Lince Dorado/Mitch Ryder match in Hellertown, Ryder struck one of our security guards, and afterwards, the two once again caused a commotion in the backstage area. Our esteemed Director of Fun Leonard F.Chikarason had this to say about the incident:
"We do not tolerate wrestlers putting their hands on our officials, and I feel this must extend to our staff as well. Therefore, Mitch Ryder will find himself suspended from our upcoming events, and I will begin re-organizing our July 21 Wallingford card effective today. I would like to point out that the subsequent backstage altercation was not Ryder's fault, and such behavior is not tolerated either at CHIKARA or Chikara Wrestle Factory. Our security guard has been dismissed, and hopefully this serves as an example to the other young members of our crew regarding our professional code of conduct.
Within minutes of this announcement, we recieved an call from an ENRAGED Chris Hero, demanding that Ryder be reinstated immediately. Chikarason stood his ground, and Ryder is still suspended for the immediate future, but he did try and meet Mr. Hero halfway. Since the Kings of Wrestling now seem to blame Lince Dorado for the events of 6/24, a singles match has been signed that will hopefully allow this new grudge to be settled inside of the ring instead of in another ugly incident outside of it. For the first time ever, in any setting, it will be Lince Dorado going head-to-head with Chris Hero.
This will undoubtedly be Dorado's toughest challenge to date, as he has never encountered any opponent in CHIKARA that bore a personal grudge against him, let alone a competitor as dangerous as Chris Hero. And on the flipside, we've never seen Lince Dorado with an sort of grudge against another competitor, but following the attack by Mitch Ryder on Sunday, he wants at the Kings just as bad as they want at him. Can the Golden Lynx of Lucha Libre survive being in the crosshairs of the Kings of Wrestling at Showdown in Crisisland? And perhaps more frightening to ask - if the Kings can't take him out on the first try, what kind vicious attack would they try on the second ?
Also representing the Kings of Wrestling in Wallingford on July 21st will be the CHIKARA Campeones de Parejas Icarus, and Gran Akuma, as well as Max Boyer. They find themselves in what they've referred to as an "exhibition" match against the hammerin' hormigas of the Colony. We here at CHIKARA want to assure you all, this is no "exhibition" as the Kings have so arrogantly put it, but rather a chance for the Colony to pick up the biggest win of their careers.Over the course of the past year, we've seen the Colony improving by leaps and bounds in every match they've had. While many of those matches ended up in defeat for the Ants, it's only a matter of time before they manage to piece together all of their tools and starting making some big waves here in CHIKARA.
If the Kings of Wrestling don't take this trios challenge serious, they may just end up embarassed and infuriated at our CT debut. Can the Colony make the Queen proud by taking out the Kings ?
Also signed for our July 21st CT debut is an exiciting trios match pitting the most evil members of the CHIKARA roster, The Order of The Neo Solar Temple, up against the trio of Cheech, Cloudy, and Hallowicked. Both teams will be reviving their sqauds from this past February's King of Trios torunament for a match that we think will really define the CHIKARA style for our new fans in the Northeast Corridor. This match will also revive the long-standing rivalry between former partners Ultramantis Black and Hallowicked, which always leads to some explosives exhanges. Can the tecnicos put the Order back in line, or will darkness reign in Wallingford ?
Closing out today's announcements is a show with big time ramifications in the hunt for CHIKARA's Campeonatos de Parejas. As CT will soon find out, a tag team must accumulate 3 points to challenge the current campeones, Icarus and Gran Akuma for the titles. That means 3 straight wins in traditional tag matches. Lose a match, and you're back at zero. Both the Olsen Twins and Los Ice Creams are coming into the show with one point, both of which we're won at Night Three of YLC V, and on July 21st in Wallingford, both teams will wager their point against one another as Los Ice Creams collide with the Olsen Twins. If ever there was a CHIKARA match that screamed "WHACKINESS!" this one would be it. Who will walk out of CT just one point shy of a title shot, and who will walk out empty-handed ?
The only way to get the answers, is by joining us LIVE in Wallingford, CT for Showdown in Crisisland!
