Here is Ians direct response to this whole situation.
First of all, it amazes me how wrestling fans take one side of the story and start making assumptions. To start off, what was said was to Billy Roc was "If" (key word) "If things could not be worked out with FSM, that IWA REGULARS would be pulled off of that show." Apparently, Billy did not listen to the "If" part. As far as FSM goes, I have let them put out flyers inside the Midlo building during my shows for their shows and tried to offer advice to Mikey so he would not "over pay" these guys. I also offered him discounted prices on talent and several other things to try and help him. The point is that when I ran in Philly I ASKED PWU, who was the group I was working with at the time, if I could run the building. Same thing with Streamwood and Ed Chuman. I was willing to try and work things out with Mikey, but the fact of the matter is that everybody has just jumped to conclusions that I am the "bad guy" in this situation. All Mikey had to do was ask first. Just like the other group that ran into trouble called and asked. But when I talked to Mikey, he doesn't seem to understand that groups that are SUPPOSE TO BE WORKING TOGETHER don't go into each others buildings, using some of the same talent a week after their show without some kind of protocol. You people can think I am wrong but the person that is in the wrong here is Fight Sports Midwest and Mikey. Hopefully, still, as I talked to Chris Hero last night (who was NOT made aware of where the show was at when he was booked) we can work things out for the guys to pick up an extra payday. That is my side of the story, and this is just business. Nothing personal! I have wished Mikey and FSM the best of luck since the very beginning. But he has to realize that there are ways to do things in this business. And don't get me wrong, I am certainly not perfect. But I would not go into someone's building that has been trying to help me (and that happens to also be an NWA member with myself)and use their talent without asking first. FSM tires to use a lot of talent that IWA has founded and developed, in which case I don't not blame them for. Why not use the best talent? But by going and doing something like this, I don't feel this this is "working together" Hell FSM and myself have even shared airplane tickets on some guys which is great for BOTH companies. All I am asking for is a little bit of respect to be shown here. It would be nice but it hasn't been given, and until that is done we're going to have a problem. Hopefully this can be resolved. Only time will tell.
Thanks for your time, Ian

Well Ian's response seems to make a point I never considered. It is proper to ask to use a companies regular building if you want to run there. However, I think he's also doing some damage control.
Ah yet another day in the indies.
As for the comment of Ian being more scummy then a certain promoter from the fine state of New Jersey. Everything Ian's ever done is far, far, far, away from some of the things that went on during the early days of his promotion. But that's not what this topic is about.

i can see ian's point but at the same time i think it's kind of stupid.
don preston rec center is like a public building, anyone with enough money to rent it out should be able to with no problems. ian doesn't own the building, sure he put on the best wrestling ever in the building but he still doesnt own it.

No, you don't "ask for permission" to use a building that someone has no ownership of. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. If I want to walk on the sidewalk, I'm going to walk on it. I don't care who walked there, who made that sidewalk or if its somebody's star on the walk of fame.

No, you don't "ask for permission" to use a building that someone has no ownership of. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. it's a territory thing, more or less. Indies co-exsist with each other because they rarely over lap, the only real case I can find of overlapping being co-promoted shows or the ECW arena. If you run in another building that is someone else's "home base". IWA has run in Midlo consistantly for so long, that anyone who argues that the Don Preston Rec center ISN'T an IWA building (as far as wrestling goes) doesn't have much of a leg to stand on. Sure, anyone can rent it and other things do run there (Bingo on Wendsday, legit) but wrestling just doesn't, apart from the rare occurance, or IWA

Let's not forget that the only reason why Midlo is the home base for IWA MS is because, they've been run out of other places before this. It's not like this has been hallowed ground since IWA-MS's incarnation.
It's a great location for FSM, a promotion striving to be a premiere company in the Mid-West and that's what Ian appears to be afraid of. He doesn't want to be fighting for the exposure (even though they provide two different styles of wrestling) and that's understandable from a business standpoint. What's not understandable is telling people they cannot work for FSM if they want to continue to be apart of IWA-MS. That's bull ****. Talk all you want about co-existing but Ian is showing he has no desire to co-exist with anyone that may be direct competition. If Ian wants to cry about the venue, then that's his prerogative. There's no denying it's still his fault that Billy Roc was pulled and it's his fault that there is a problem. Unless IWA-MS had the venue booked and FSM took it out from under them, there shouldn't be a big problem at all anyway.
For all intents and purposes, Mikey is still new to the promotion game. If Ian had a problem he should understand that. You can't expect him to switch his show just because Ian has been around longer. That's just bullying. In that case Ian should have to clear with Windy City Pro anytime he wants to book there as well as this was their "territory" long before his. The fact of the matter is that Mikey put down the money, so he gets the venue and the wrestlers. It's called INDEPENDENT wrestling for a reason. He shouldn't have to clear with Ian if he wants to book INDEPENDENT wrestlers. And unless Ian puts pen to paper and issues some contracts, he should not have the control of INDEPENDENT wrestlers. Plain and simple.
But let's get back to Billy Roc for a second, it's not just FSM that Roc has been pulled from. Roc has been pulled from a much smaller indy promotion in the Chicagoland area. He claims he "wants to focus on IWA-MS". A two-bit indy promotion where you and CJ Otis are the biggest name on the card and you can't work this show? You've got to be kidding me. Unless Roc is just being a total douche on his own (which I don't see why he would pass a paycheck), this seems like Ian is trying to dictate where he's "homegrown" talent can go.

Unless Roc is just being a total douche on his own (which I don't see why he would pass a paycheck) I doubt Roc is getting any paychecks outside of IWA, FSM, and Chikara. He's probably working for nachos and a Coke.

I personally know what Roc was going to be paid for the event in question and though it might have been a lot, it's still a good amount of pocket change.

From Mike Blanton (CorinoMike) on the IWA Board...
For the record everybody, Ian and I worked things out. So please continue to support both companies!

I love how everyone thinks they could run a promotion in this thread. and like they know the unwritten rules that do exist, between competeing feds. If you guys had Ian Rotten on your ass like this, you would know why, Ian wouldn't be that much of an ass...for no reason. It's a matter of respect, IMO.
But Billy Roc is working for decent money, not 500 a pop or anything, but he gets paid. He's in-demand enough and over almost anywhere in the midwest, let alone CHIKARA....so, i'd forget about his days of working for 10 bucks, in front of 50 people, at the EPW ARENA, in Marion Indiana.

I'm glad that Ian and Mikey were able to work things out.
I can't help but feel that Sick Boi's comments are aimed directly at me so, I'll just come out and say it. Mikey is a buddy of mine and in the past he's considered me a confidant for his ideas, so I have a bit of an "insider" view of the situation.

From Mike Blanton (CorinoMike) on the IWA Board... so much for me supporting FSM.. He hates me. Just ask him. he used to have a display name proclaiming his hate for me.
