I just saw ROH's PPV debut show Respect is Earned and all I have to say is WOW.This was the first complete show of Ring of Honor I've seen and this was the best wrestling show I've seen so far.Personally I think it's better than Wrestlemania.

Once you explore the indy scene in general you will never look at WWE the same way again. None of us ever do.

Check ROHwrestling.com and start buying some older DVD's. If you liked what you saw tonight, you will deffinantly like a few things from the past.

The Pay-Per-View was great, yeah, but it's not the sort of thing that will make me turn away from WWE. ROH/the indies is a better WRESTLING product, so it's a great alternative, you should really get some 2005 ROH, that's their best year IMO.

Seen it and I can safely say that ROH should be proud. No fan of the product turned away at what was offered, infact, they did a good job with establishing some characters. Nigel McGuinness being a top face. Dragon somewhat of a top tweener, and Morishima a monster heel with no remorse or equals. But that's not even my original point.
See they had a vignette for Brent Albright who definately deserved it and could be one of their stars who shines in years to come so gives him a mystique. than Adam Pearce, yes Adam Pearce, cut the best promo on the entire show at least from what we were offered. I seriously applaud ROH because I love Pearce but he's never used properly. He's got something good in the palm of his hands right now.

Now you need to buy some DVD's and see more of this great company. no i look at WWE as the place they tell a story in the ring like the 1950's,60's70's, & the 80's not a place like ROH were the tell no story in the ring & over do it in the ring . as the all the true old schoolers will tell you less is better.i like roh but all it is high spots & move after move with no story in the ring . i was raised by real pro-wrestling & it was called the original NWA from the chase in st louis. they controled wrestling before vince & wrestled they same style as WWF & WWE before WWF . so you guys just don't know what real old school pro-wrestling is . for one thing it is not ROH or TNA .go by a wrestling from the chase DVD & find out what real pro wrestling is .

I love 1980s NWA as much as anyone but a LOT of it is just mat wrestling and beating the crap out of each other with punches and kicks. That, too, gets very repetitive.
The exceptions are guys like Flair, Steamboat, the Rock n' Roll Express, and Tully.

Indy matches now tell stories. The wrestlers just weave the stories into exciting matches with more moves then in the past. Watch Jacobs/Whitmer, the ROH VS CZW Cage of Death, the Joe/Punk trilogy, or really anything from Danielson or Joe's ROH title reigns. They're chock full of storytelling. I still think the two matches that Joe had in October of 2004 against Danielson and Punk are the best examples of indie wrestling turning the corner from OMGZ movez no selling! to actual storytelling. Punk slows it down in June, as Joe is used to going quick. Danielson then speeds it up slightly in October and actually takes it right to Joe rather than wait on him. And then Punk goes BACK to slowing it down in Chicago Ridge. Joe was a beast in mid to late 2004.
