Hey yo. Although I have only recently registered here, I view this board regularly and have read same great conversations and debates here. Despite this, it seems like the main focus of this board is whether next month's show is worth going to, and whether last month's show was worth buying a DVD of. I thought I'd mix it up a bit and bring some of the focus back to the wrestlers themselves. What better way to do this than to pit one indy star against another indy star in a good old-fashioned "Who's better?" poll?
The 1st Edition goes to a couple of Pro-wrestling NOAH's finest, KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji. Both of these guys are amazing, technically sound wrestlers and I doubt the resulting poll with be lop-sided with these two.

I like both pretty equally. But...if pressed, KENTA is more of a flyer from the matches I've seen. And I dig fliers. Marufuji is a little more of a ground and pound wrestler.

Marafuji is one of my favourite wrestlers, and although I really like KENTA, I enjoy Marafuji more.

I don't follow NOAH too much. I watch it when It just so happens to be on TWC. I also have seena few best of's. So with my small knowledge I am going with KENTA, what I have seen of him kicks ass.

If this was 2004 or 2005, the answer would be KENTA. Nowadays, there's no way he's better then Marufuji, since KENTA has regressed (current tour notwithstanding) and Marufuji has grown so much.

Right now it would have to be Marufuji.

Gotta go with Marufuji.
He has seriously stepped up his game lately. If he continues on the path he is on, in the future he could be GHC Heavyweight Champion again and with a much more credible run this time.

I say KENTA but by the littlest increment possible. There are a couple little things that irk me about both of them. Marufuji does some, in my opinion, pointless mat work. He doesn't really have a good heavyweight-style finisher, and that is so ing key to having epic GHC Title matches (Shiranui? Come on. Alright, maybe that avalanche style one, but the Shiranui Kai [the one-man Spanish Fly/Flux Capacitator, C-4/Cyclo-rama/whatever] won't work on a big dude. And the Pole Shift? Maybe) beyond like the Perfect Inside Cradle. Other than that, he's amazing. KENTA, has problems selling. He's said before he doesn't want to stay a heavyweight even though he has the better heavyweight moveset...but there is one big thing that gets me. KENTA has a perfect character. The young, arrogant, spunky kid who thinks he's better than everyone and can show you right now that he is. And he seriously oozes that cool charisma. Marufuji might have a good underdog babyface role in heavyweight matches, but he's so ing jacked now, it doesn't work against Jr.'s. He's in like that openweight category with Sugiura where he should be murdering Jr.'s but can't murder heavyweights. I mean, NOAH is really strong when it comes to in-ring characters...and Marufuji's isn't as good as KENTA's. So, I think KENTA has Maru by a tiny, tiny, tiny bit.

It's like comparing Malenko and Guerrero. Both are great wrestlers, but Malenko is more the wrestler and you don't get much in the personality department. Marufuji gives me that vibe.
While KENTA, he's just got a badass vibe, like Super Dragon before he became a porker. It's really a unfair question but KENTA got more appeal, imo.

I am gonna say KENTA but not by much. I love both of these guys wrestling styles and it is very hard to choose. Reason I pick KENTA is because I love his bad ass stiff kicks. I love how he can just nail someone with a stiff knee right to their face out of nowhere. Don't get me wrong, Fuji is a great wrestler but the slight edge goes to KENTA.

The thing is, Maru is probably better when it comes to purely in ring wrestling ability, but KENTA is a little bit better off around the edges.

Obviously my choice is a bit biased but I'm going to have to go with KENTA. And I don't know if anyone else feels this way... but I feel KENTA can better connect with a crowd.
