He's been Ring Of Honor champ since February and has defended the belt against some great challengers the likes of Nigel McGuiness, Roderick Strong, Shingo, Austin Aries and most recently American Dragon Bryan Danielson.
So, it was such a shock when he won the title from Homicide, shocked everyone really. So are you a fan of him? Has he won the respect of the ROH faithful?
I'm still a bit of a noob, but i've seen a few of his title defences and he's alright. I'm not a big fan of him and his style but i can put up with him if you know what I mean.
One thing though is I can see why he's the ROH champ. He plays the dominant monster very well and it's a task for the rest of the ROH roster to step up and dethorn the beast, so to speak.

I've always loved the 'monster heel' character in wrestling (yeah, even guys like Khali and Snitsky) so I obviously love Morishima. He's a character that ROH have never used before, and I love the fact that he just destroys guys.

I love him, just sadly not as much as I love Danielson. He's probably my second favorite (current) wrestler.

My favorite current wrestler.
The best ROH Champion in a long time.
Plus he looks cool with the "bloodied nose" image, and carrying the belt with your teeth solidifies being a badass.

he won me over, over time though. i hated him once i heard he beat homicide. i saw him live in febuary and thought he was decent, saw him in april and thought he was good, and same with june.

I like him as well, but I've seen/heard a lot of people who don't, but I haven't exactly figured out why yet.. anyone?

I like him but I'm not a huge fan of his. His matches while good are usually always the same.

Morishima is a mystery to me, I doubt ROH putting the title on him so early but he has the skills to be a fantastic champion some day, just not today

I enjoy Morishima's work, purely because he breaks the stereotypical Large Wrestler Stereotype, much like Joe did. You don't exactly see such crazy maneuverability from a guy the size of Morishima, like his Cartwheels and Dropkicks often.

no, guys like Takeshi Morishima are exactly why I gave up on WWE. Why exactly is he getting pushed? because he's big and scary and looks good for PPV. It's not because he's talented, or I should say the most talented around. Not because it's building a big angle.. not because he's been dedicated to the fed for a long time and deserves it, Not even because he sells tickets. nope. he's the champ because it looks good for the mark audiance. If not, Danielson, Nigel, or Homicide would be champion. (Homicide may be questionable due to TNA, but Nigel or Danielson would definately be big..). Maybe even one of the Briscoes.
What does Morishima really do better than anyone else? He's not that great of a stiff wrestler, others do it much better (Kingston.. and Kingston is preshowing!) not because he's a great technical wrestler (he sucks.. and if this were the case, Hero would be champ, main eventing against Danielson) and he's not that much of a draw (Delirious out draws him, big). The only thing he has going for him is the claim of possibly being Terry Gordy's illegitimate Japanese baby
